Okay....so I never thought I would get this excited over eating blueberries, but after two weeks of SB without any fruit, I'm in heaven!!
Got weighed this morning and lost 2lb my 2nd week....12 total for Phase 1. Was initially going to continue with Phase 1 for a while longer, but have decided to add a fruit/day this week and see what happens. Just had 1/2 cup blueberries added to my LF plain yogurt with a dash of splenda and cinnamona and YUM YUM.
Must be the change of season....everyone trying on new/old clothes. I leave for vacation next week and needed to go through my wardrobe of summer clothes to see what fit. I'm about 35lb lighter than last year when we went to HH. As I have a variety of sizes....was pleased to see I didn't have to go out and buy anything new, but also have a "give away" pile cause they're too big.
Also went shopping to find something for my granddaughter's baptism and actually bought an 18/20 top. That's down a couple of sizes for me! I'm happy with my progress, but even happier with the thought that this is something I'm going to be able to stick to. Three more pounds and I will actually be looking at the 250's.....haven't been there in years.

Lori,
When is the last time you tried it? I learned that I could handle it with no problem after I lost 65 pounds.
If it has been a while and several pounds ago, check your glucose levels. you just might be surprised!

Only been off the fruit for two weeks while I did Phase 1 of South Beach. Am trying SB as I believe I'm insulin resistant and react to the carbs. Hopefully having the fruit won't initiate any cravings!!

My A1c was 6.1 and just ordered a glucose monitor....I think I'll check it out and see what I'm actually doing. Have never checked my glucose levels before, but not a bad idea.
Knowledge IS power!
It gets a little expensive to get "the idea" of what's going on (with my strips they are a dollar every time I stick one in the meter... that was about 15 - 20 dollars a day for a while depending on how high it was going). I always checked right before, right after, an hour after and the usual 2.5 hours after so I could see if I was spiking and how quickly.. how high.. and how long it would stay there. It's a pain in the finger but it was worth it to me to know that 3 tortellini would spike me about 150 pts! lol
I would check after dem blueberries.. just to see.

I tested 7 x daily when I was first diagnosed: 1st thing in the morning, 2 hours after breakfast, before lunch, 2 hours after lunch, before supper, 2 hours after supper, just before bed.
I learned a lot about which foods were okay and which ones I should stay away from. As long as I stay within what I know is okay, I don't need to test as often. But now that I am off the glucophage, I plan to keep testing-just not as often as I had.
My insurance covers the test supplies. They question the doctor for anything over 5 times a day unless a person is taking insulin.

Yes indeed.... one day you will be able to eat them. Your A1c will continue to get better and the insulin resistance will improve as the weight goes down from everything I have heard.
You are doing great. so don't discount yourself. You know what you can and can't do right now.
