Day Late and a Dollar Short
So, folks, I've learned you just can't time weight loss.
Yesterday was our final assessment. End result for me was 12.5 lbs in 2 months. But the irony was, though I had dropped 1.5 lbs in the week since our last assessment, my bodyfat rose for the final curtain call. And see that's what happens, as your body adjusts to its loss, weight down, then the bodyfat up, weight maintained, then the bodyfat drops. Had we had the final assessment next week, I would have placed higher, perhaps.
Here's the irony. You've heard me share what low carbers call a woosh? Had one this morning and as of today am 276.4 lbs. I dropped 3lbs from yesterday. IRONY.
Oh well, like I said to my former trainer, I am NOT disappointed (he is, pffft!). I have lost more weight in 2 months than in 4 previous, I am loads stronger and faster, I look great, why would I be negative about this?

You done good, girl!! Lots to be proud of. Glad the emotional roller coaster is over for you and you can now just focus on your own training with Karissa.
i know jerz..my body loses whoosh syle as well. my pattern of loss is exactly that, whether it was ww or atkins or lower calorie. No matter what i do, like donnamarie, it seems like 3 weeks not much loss, then a drop. It seriously is why people drop out of healthy lifestyles - the results don't exactly pay off in the way that we want them to or like the magazine cover touts.
why the hell would Ian be disappointed given your pattern. To hell with him, right? Shows me that he is being repellant of you - thinks you are all over his jock. I hope you treat him like he is invisible from this day forward.
i would hope he learned something, namely that we are all different - no one formula works for all. 6 pounds in a month for anyone is awesome. Jeesh, what did he reasonably expect? You worked insanely hard for that too. Not many people would DOOOOO what you did.
In general, challenges are bad for this very reason. When any of us try to compare to others, what does it really mean? Someone will of course, be ranked higher, someone must come in last. ALL persons did all that was asked of her, went the distance. No one "lost" if you ask me!
I like to get in on races here and there for the push and soemthing new to think about but i have to check my own expectations. I am glad that you are not disappointed, no way should you be. You did very well, worked your heart out literally.
Thanks, Neecee.
"You worked your heart out literally" Thank you for seeing that. It hurt that Ian didn't.
Hell, no I'm not disappointed! Seeing him change his attitude last 3 months, and seeing him change his answer based on the information before him showed me without a doubt I needed to break free. I am where I need to be! It took me a while, I held onto the belief of what he was for me in the beginning, but I had to see that he coudn't be that anymore. And unfortunately he can't.
Karissa started today with an assessment. My hips are down 12", my waist 8" since my highest weight. I went shopping today and 18s were too big (16s, too small). (Sigh. Clothing conundrum.) She did the measurements differently than Ian (more like I do) and would ask me, what do you think it is, and I'd think usually 2" more than she did, plus she'd measure 2x to confirm.
Oh, and she isn't going to weigh me...at all! She's only going to focus on my measurements, determining my bodyfat from that. Kinda cool. I think she knows, due to my muscle amount, I'll always weigh heavier, but fitness is not about lbs....
Anyway, I'm happy all in all!
Like today's workout. Hard as ever, but I just can't tell you how her even temperment is working for me. It's like I can breathe again!
I'll always remember when Ian was good for me, but Karissa is what I need for now.
Oh, and she figured out my trigger for motivation. She had me doing a weight circuit 3x. One station included climbing two flights of stairs up and down 5x in one set, for a total of 3 sets, while carrying 30lbs. Believe me, by rep 5, you're moving so slow! Anyway, on set 3, rep 3 she reached for the weight and I gave her this look like, Uh uh, I've got 2 more to go. "Oh, I was only going to have you do 3." I'll do five.
She then told me there are two types of clients, ones who will hand her the weight and move on and ones who won't. She knows expecting "less of me" makes me think I'll show her and finish exactly what was out before me. Damn, she reads me well.
