Is everyone here doing low-carb? I'm not
""WW is for me the best program, I could never do low carb (Holland is really a bread and potatoe country)" That's really true? OMG.. lol My mother used to tell us that's why we had to much bread and potatoes... because our father was a Dutchman and that's how he liked to eat.. LOL I thought she made that up!! That's cool.. learn something new everyday! I'm doing low carb ... that's what works for my particular body. "The surgery is SO big and the consequences so grave, that I REALLY want to succeed without" I can totally feel ya here. Over the last several years I've come across folks that were either FOR or AGAINST the surgery.. and it wasn't until coming to OH that I saw that many people actually consider WLS and try like anything to go that route as a last resort. In my experiences with everyday people.. they either sung the praises of surgical intervention, or told me I was crazy for even considering it. It's in THIS place that I found more "real life" experiences.. with and without surgery. I too consider surgery a "last resort".. and I agree that one should give an all out attempt before surgery. Just by reading of Shari's experiences... that's just one person.... one can see that no matter WHAT we do, we have to change FOREVER. Forever is a pretty big word and when it sinks in.. I think we need to break out every tool in the shed.. INCLUDING therapy. That was my biggest reason for signing onto it. My changes need to be permanent and I need to know and understand why I am the way I am. Scary..... woooooo .. but fun too.
I can't see why you couldn't cancel a surgery appointment. I've canceled just about everything there is to cancel. I've heard of doctors charging for appointments that are continually canceled.. but surgery is a huge decision! I think it only "human" to have doubts and reconsider and this must be expected.
Looks like you know what works for you and you are doing it. Adding the exercise is absolutely wonderful!! Swimming is so great... challenges just about everything all at the same time. Hey... I'm down about 100 lbs from my highest weight.... um.... as of today (I've been tetering), 85 lbs from my starting weight in July/August. I have 45 lbs to go to hit my first goal. It's been a huge change in lifestyle.. but so worth it. It's my hope for ALL of us that we just get where we need to be in the healthiest way possible. God bless! Lori
I notice that my family and husband by now think like: weel, she had never succeeded before, she is contemplating surgery for some time now, let's just do it and live on!
But I read SO many stories of people with RNY that feel sickly, can't eat or do not enjoy eating at all anymore, get huge complications or even regain. And the deficiancies.... (spelling sorry) makes me think about gastric sleeve again....
well -shakes it all off- o-o
the appointment is being made by my doctor, it will be more than 8 months away from now. It will be not a surgery appointment but a first consult only! (waiting list starts there after)
So more than enough time to give it my all and prove everybody wrong.!
I am so glad that here I know people and that SOMEONE actually believes in me!
You know what... that darling Vince is still a TINY baby. Your body is still in post pregnancy hormone land. Please don't beat yourself up right now. Just make a start, keep healthy, keep moving. YOU CAN DO IT! There is no timeline, no hurry. I get the feeling you might be being very hard on yourself.
As for carbs- I eat 2 serves of bread/rice/pasta/cereal/potato type carbs a day. I try and stick to whole grains. 1 serve for me would be 2 slices bread, 40g cereal, 1 small potato, 1/2 cup cooked rice/pasta. I don't know if that fits into a 'low carb' diet, but it certainly is choosing to limit the carbs.
Keep faith in youself.
