288 lbs.  I'm 286 lbs at home when weighing with just my boxers on.  I'm gonna take the nutritionist weight because..well her scale is more accurate. She thinks she's amazing because I've lost 12 lbs while seeing her.  She was shocked at how much weight I lost in the past month.  I told her I cut out starches and only eat meat and veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, and squash.  She didn't jump down my throat about carbs but she instead suggested I eat a few starches so I'm not depriving myself.  She said it wasn't healthy and she was afraid that I would eventually go back to eating carbs and eat way too many.  She suggested a bread a day.  Will I listen to her?  Listen yeah.. act.. no.  I'll begin eating nuts and natural peanut butter but I will not eat bread, potatoes or any of that other nonsense any time soon.  I will treat myself to a Sonic Butterfinger Blast (with extra butterfinger heheh) once a month provided I've lost weight for that month. That'll be my monthly dose of sugar. She wants me to exercise more despite my rebellious attitude about routine exercise. I told her I would work in the yard more but I would not step foot in a gym to lift weights, walk a treadmill or do an elliptical. If I can't get my exercise through natural and fun activity then it just isn't meant to be for me. Overall the visit was good but she didn't tell me anything I didn't already know. I like the accountability of it all though.  At the end of 6 months I'll think about going to see her again though I imagine I'll decide to get my accountability elsewhere.

Awesome is a good word!   Chris, I will caution you about the cheats.  It's not that one has to live rigidly.  Just know that a) it can throw your body for a loop (such as a 5lb weight gain) or b) for some people, giving in for one brief moments reopens the door to cravings and additional bad habits.  Hey, I did with Easter dinner ; / and only today am I truly back on board.  Small cheats didn't cost me in the long run, but for some it becomes a bender because their body goes nuts.   So, jus****ch yourself.  If it becomes a trigger, put down the butterfinger thingee.... It's not that cheating is bad, it's about what happens to you when you cheat.... Now, 12 lbs out of what, 70?  SEE!  YOU WILL HIT YOUR GOAL IN NO TIME!

I have 108 more lbs to lose to reach 180 lbs. I'd be ecstatic with 200 and pleased with 220. I don't think the butterfinger blast will throw me into a spiral of cravings. I usually have one and then I'm done.  If I would ever get off my ass and make that cheese cake I keep talking about then the craving will probably go away.  I have all the ingredients now so I dunno why I haven't made it. I guess it's that after I eat dinner I'm just not hungry and don't really want the cake. It's usually when I'm feeling a little hunger that I want something sweet.  I'll just make the damn cake that way I have it whenever I want it.

Cravings and bodily reactions (weight gain) may be different now that you're sugarfree.  JUST a heads up, k? But I'm sure you can create a butterfinger tasting cheesecake. I just googled to see if one existed and you can make your own butterfinger with chocolate, candy corn and PB, but no clue how to make that s/f!  But there are PB cheesecakes.

Triggers...I think I get the point here..but i am now at the stage where I accept that less than stellar choices ARE going to happen.  I CAN, I WILL, I DO get back on track. Now, I have changed.   I referred to many instances of past trials and errors...one time I remember eating ONE piece of dark expensive chocolate and from that day on, i gained back all my weight.  Another time, it was Thanksgiving Day pie.  My Atkins stint was over with one lil ole serving of tortilla chips. To blame my wrecked food plan on ONE or two dum choices is nothing more than a cop out. Just an excuse to not do the things that I know intellectually my body needs me to do.  Folks, please believe you can change, really change. I plea to each of you as well as to myself. Do what works, but don't cop out.

Chris....what a great job...you should be proud.  You know, exercise is supposed to be fun....they tell you to find something you enjoy doing.  I think your yard work, gardening , hiking etc that you enjoy is the perfect solution!!  I know you can work up a good sweat doing all of that. I think a treat now and then is not a bad thing....as long as it doesn't lead you down the garden path of guilt and shame and feeling like a failure.  I think that's even more dangerous than arousing cravings.  Just plan for it, eat it, enjoy it and move on!! keep up the good work!

Cool, congrats on the weight loss, that's excellent!   Ya know, well you know me and this whole "balanced" thing.  I really believe in it.  I can see what she means.  But I don't believe it when she is telling you to eat bread daily.  Just like when I went to my doctors yesterday, he told me himself that I can go through out life eating no bread, no rice, no potato, and no processed garbage.  He himself is a believer of not eating that stuff, it's in his diet plan himself.  BUT, I "personally" believe some type of grain should be in it eventually.  Just when Jerz talked about the five pound gain, that is what scares me.  If you don't let your body have it, it doesn't accept it in the long run.  I'm staying on phase one for as long as I can.  I talked to my doctor about it about the next two months at least and he was alright with it.  I am going to incorporate a few things here and there though.  I'm not holding myself to it though, because if I start feeling the need for more,  I'm gonna have it.  And I don't want to wait until I feel like I'm going to binge on all these carbs that your nutritionist is talking about.  Which I do believe she is correct also.  All I ask is listen to your body. I'm not sure what your plan is on eating other things than meat and veggies is.  Your doing fantastic, I hope this is it for you.  I don't wanna debate, or even get you upset because your doing wonderful!  Heck, I'm not eating any grains either!  I am just VERY cautious that I know this binge can happen, and it is for real. It's happened to me and it is VERY hard to control.  And I know when I start eating grains it is going to take a LOT of time.  I'm trying to prepare for it mentally.  I just want you to have the best experience and lose all your weight!  But I hate for you to blow off all that she said, because personally I think she knows what she is talking about on a few things.  This is just my two cent,s take it or leave it..I just wish you the best.  Congrats on your loss, that's so exciting!  I bet your thrilled that you've figured out something that works.

As for your dessert every month, I say more power to ya if you can handle it! :)  I use to do that weekly and it still worked for me.  Jus****ch out for those bad little sugar cravings afterward!  I use to get those and they were a killer.

I think she knows what she's talking about too. I agree with her but when she told me that not eating the breads and starches was unhealthy I almost closed my ears and it made accepting what else she had to say difficult.  It's not unhealthy to eat the way I am eating. I'm eating WAY more veggies than I ever dreamt of doing before. My meals were laden with starches and breads and very few veggies.  I am getting my carbs in, it's just not in the form of corn, pasta, bread, cereal or other grains. I had some sugar at lunch. :(  Order Jamaican Jerk chicken wing because I wanted a change from the traditional hot wing. I thought it would be like a dry rub wing but it was a sauce. I could tell there was sugar in it.  I batted most of the sauce off but I know I still got some in.   They weren't overly dripping in sweetness but I could tell it was there. They were good though.  Ahh well we'll see how the scale reacts.
