i turned in a full draft of my dissertation last night!!!! i do not want to read another article about binge eating for as long as i live!!!!!!!!!!! i have 25 pages of references! for those who don't know - my project was a lit review of binge eating in adolescent obesity. and i've been working on it FOREVER. i am a bit overwhelmed by the idea that i may actually graduate and that people will actually have to legitimately call me Dr. Andrea in August. weird. that is all.

Congratulations Andrea! That is so awesome! Just the idea of writing a dissertation is a daunting thought to me.

thanks for all the kudos! i am definitely relieved. and as much as i didn't like doing it, i really learned a lot.  as rates go up, binge eating and obesity continue to get a lot of research attention, which is great for us. unfortunately, there isn't a whole lot of positive outcomes and that was sad. we shall see.

Yeah for you...

Just wondering, what did you decide to do about that weight loss magazine article you asked us about?

Hi! i did a phone interview with LHJ and decided that it wasn't something i was interested in. It was going to be a major cover story - a while special issue dedicated to weight loss - and that was a little much for me. a giant picture of me on the cover of a major magazine = a little more exposure than i am comfortable with. i also felt that again (like i was concerned about when i posted here) that they were looking for a story that was a little more sensationalistic than mine - and that mine would become that if they used it - some of the questions they asked that concerned me in that respect, "how did you eat at your highest weight?"  "did you eat lots of fried food?" "had you ever exercised before?" Frankly, i find those questions a little insulting. i dunno.

Ohh congrats Andrea!  That's awesome!!  I bet you're thrilled to be done with that.  Good choice on the magazine. I feel the same way about those questions.
