I have to agree with Sherrie, you truly do not look 230 lbs. in that pic.  Your legs really look slim.  I have tree trunks for legs.  You've been having a hard time lately with the water weight going up and down.  To me you've been so dedicated to your program.  You are a powerhouse!

I have faith that you won't let that slip up hold you back.  Have a great new week. Brenda

(((Lori))) Just take it one day at a time.  You have made great progress.  Please try to focus on your accomplishments.  One slip-up in seven months is astonishing. If I consume a high protein shake with fiber in it, my glucose levels can go down as much as ten points.  If you feel like you can have one, maybe that will help you. Another secret I have learned from a friend is that I can add unflavored protein powder to any food and make it healthier.  I made sweet potatoes with lots of vanilla protein powder, vanilla extract, Splenda brown sugar, and cranberry "raisins" .  The guys liked it and I had some of it too. Next week I plan to buy the Sweet & Low brown sugar.  When the last little bit of the Splenda is gone, I don't plan to buy any more for myself. Please don't kick yourself hard. Which medications does your doctor have you on for diabetes?  I just got the Atkins Diabetes Revolution in the mail yesterday.  So I only had time to skim over it.  But the book mentions that metformin is the only diabetes medication that does not promote weight gain for diabetics. Hang in there.  We are all in this together.  Remember-  You are a Future Legend in the making.

I started with Metphormin/glucophage/avandia years ago.... was on insulin for the last 2 years..... but took my last shot of that on October 1, 2007.  I take NOTHING for diabetes.... I just try not to eat anything which will cause an insulin response... looks like I messed that up tonight.

First I want to say that you look great in that picture!  You got to give yourself more credit.  I look at you and think of your experiences with docs, etc., and think...theirs no way!  Your a tough woman, and beautiful at that!  Think you need to take a good hard look in the mirror, you look fanastic!

Secondly, it's a holiday so don't sweat the four spoons of mashed potatoes.  If that is all you ate wrong then I say wow...your doing well!  Tomorrow's a new day, and not a holiday so don't sweat it.  Look at your accomplishment so far!  You already know you'll get back on the wagon and work it off.

Hope you had a wonderful Easter with the relatives.

Holly.. I appreciate the confidence boost but the fact remains I look like CRAP.  I got a mirror (and I avoid it as much as possible).  I was definitely trying to show what I've been b*tching and moaning about.. that my waist seems to be getting bigger as my hips get smaller.. it's so odd... unnatural.  I thought it would be therapeutic to post a photo. The price I paid for my indiscretions yesterday was 5 lbs.  I got up at 235 lbs this morning.  I'm p'd off, hurt, crazed and wanna pull my hair out because a week ago I stood on that scale and saw 220.  That 220 was not easy to get to.. I've been fighting for it!   I took my lasix at 6:00am and I've been back and forth to the bathroom about 12 times so far so maybe the carbs loaded me with more fluid. Everyone is right.. today is a new day.. and Shari's suggestion of just GETTING OUT.. moving.. I believe was a way to help my mind more than my body because at least I felt like I was doing something about it instead of remaining complacent.  Yanno...maybe that's how one thing leads to another.... we make a mistake and figure.. well "screw it".. and keep going.  Hence.. the STOP and GET OUT NOW was good...   that's a good tool to keep in mind for the future.   The holiday tasks were... arduous.  It's been a long time since I had family for a holiday.  It was tough too... everytime I call my nephew's name it's like a slap in the face.. almost like I expect to hear my brother calling back at me.  Oh.. I know it can't be.. it's just his name.  I avoided the emotional thing until the end of the evening when the kid pinned me down trying to talk about it and I had to turn away to keep from blubbering like an idiot and just told the kid that I can't talk about it.  In 2 days he'll be gone seven years.. and this time of year is just tough I guess.. like it would be for anyone who's lost someone.  I guess my nephew's youth (31) helps his resilience. Otherwise... it was nice to see the little ones happy... and nice to take as much time as I could to reflect and praise.  :)  It was nice of God to give us such a wonderful day!  lol  :) God Bless! Lori, Don't forget that the stress from the day with the family can also make your glucose levels spike.  I learned that when I first started monitoring my glucose levels. I hope you will see improvement with the water pills.

Yes.. yes...  in fact, my PCP had me on xanax for it.  I still can get it whenever I want it, but my problem is that I like it too much...  so I'm trying to find other ways to relieve the stress.  My sugar was absolutely crazy when I had the two stores.. there was no rhyme or reason to the 300 and 400's... He also told me that stress was why I put on so much weight in the middle (rather than equally all over). I've been out of that life for about 19 months now....  I was hoping the belly would realize that and go away.  LOL GOOD news to report about the fluid.. at least for today.. tomorrow could be another story.  At 6:00am I was 235.. I took the Lasix and went to the gym... the usual...  At 4:30 this afternoon I was 227.2.  That's a lot of fluid in one day.

4 spoons of mashed potatoes eh?  that's probably a serving or so depending on the heaps.  Don't sweat it. Hell, maybe it'll shock your body and put it back into loss mode.  :)  Look at how long you've gone without potatoes! That's something to brag about! Lookin good!  Definitely can't see the 230 lbs.  Maybe it's that the stang is slimming?? dunno!? heheh Looks warm outside down there.. :(  It's cold as crap here!  Sposed to get warmer this week though.

Well, babycakes.. yous guys should have come HERE yesterday!  It was absolutely GORGEOUS all afternoon.  I just assumed yous guys had nice weather there too.. you're only a couple of hours from me afterall.   Thanks for saying that about the weight... yanno... I'm pretty real with myself when it comes to that though... I know it's a big number and what's in that number is NO MISS PETUNIA!   It's one whole hell of a lot better than my worst though (which was 325).  I wi**** looked better... but I know it's gotta be what it is.  At least I'm getting healthier!  I have no one to impress anyway.. lol   Seriously.. we should plan on a bbq one weekend when the weather is warmer.. and you and I can sit around and eat meat while we carbloat everyone else!  LOL

It is cold and windy here in Charlotte!  I just looked and it is 47 degrees outside.  I thought it was going to stay warm now.  But it is cold outside! When we moved here from SC, it was around 5-7 degrees colder here than it was there.  But it is much warmer here than it is in the states north of here! LOL!  I love the word "carbloat" for everyone else! I love your sense of humor.
