Yet another reason for me to lose weight!

My doctor has decided to put me on meds due to my BLOOD PRESSURE!  Argh.  I never had a problem with it until Nov.07, when I started going to the doc for my problems breathing (later diag. with asthma).  Up to that point I had always been perfect on BP.  I actually went to the Dr. to be put on BC pills and she told me she couldn't do it because my blood pressure was too high (145-92).  For now, just Maxzide (water pill), but she wants to follow up in a month to possibly put me on BP meds.  :-( At least I now have something to blame my headaches and strange ear problems on.  I have had the worst headaches now (almost daily) for about 4-5 months, and also I can hear my heartbeat in my ears -- weird. This sucks -- not even 30 yet.....

Use it as motivation.  For me, having my health scares just lit a fire under me to get the weight off.  I know you're scared and frustrated, but you can reverse this....

I'm trying to....haven't been doing as great the last week..... a lot of stressors and I haven't been so great at dealing with them without the food I suppose.  I need a fire!

Pu**** girl, that's pretty much the short of it.  If your not even 30 yet, and won't let you on BC, and might put you on bp pills, plus your new onset with asthma, somethings wrong.  You need to make changes now.  Older you get the harder it is, and the worse your health deteriorates.  Sorry to be so blunt, but that scares me for you.  The past ten years (I'm 39) has made such a change in my health.  Time to get in the ball game and think seriously for your future.  Get you healthy before your wedding too!! :)  How's that coming along?

I know.....you are absolutely right -- blunt or not.....I probably need the blunt actually. I was coming along, doing really well and then something snapped.....I can pinpoint it too.....I found out my mom (we are REALLY close) has to have open heart surgery -- valve replacement -- something hereditary that apparently runs in our family..... Anyway, it was like I got really upset about that -- and I still am.  I am not going to blame my "wagon overboard" on that, but I know it hasn't helped.  I was doing really well and not feeling hungry or deprived AT ALL and now it is like I am half way back to my old ways.  I'm still eating good stuff for MOST of my meals and MOST of the week, but I allow myself way more stuff than I was before -- and it shows. As for the wedding, everything is planned and we are ready to get it over with!  LOL  I'm ready for the cruise!  I ordered a new bathing suit, based on my measurements and I tried it on when it came in the mail and it was a little snug.  That's more motivation.....since bathing suits for us big girls aren't cheap!  UUgh....

I will be turning 30 next month -- and I believe you that it seems like I am just physically starting to deteriorate -- it's not going to go in a positive direction from here!  I'm going back and forth through different "programs" in my head and can't decide how I want to handle it.  I've thought about low carb, I've thought about joining back with WW....I just don't know...

Sounds like you have all kinds of motivation health wise now....family history of heart disease just adds to it.  I'll keep your mom in my prayers. You have a lot on your plate right now and plenty of stressors, but like everyone is saying....now's the time and age to tackle it.  Wait til you're 60 if you think you're started downhill now!  I swear I hit 60 and in the last year all has gone to hell with my body! If you're thinking low carb, I would recommend the WW Core program or South Beach.  I'll tell you, just started SB on Monday and I am eating good and satisfied (except for my one little anxiety attack last night) and not craving anything....unbelievable!  Just got back from lunch out today and I had the most delectable salad on mixed greens, roasted eggplant, roasted red pepper and artichokes...yummy!  And it's at my favorite restaurant where the bread is to die for!!  I sat opposite my SO and watched him eat spaghetti and meatballs and the whole basket of bread...and didn't bat an eye.  I still can't believe it! You hang in there, girl, and decide on a plan before these health issues get the best of you.   Have a blessed Easter....Sherrie

Thank you Sherrie - yes you would think this would be when I was all gung-ho -- considering the added health things now.   I want to do some more looking into South Beach.  I may work on that over the weekend. What you were saying about your restaurant experience -- about not craving-- about resisting the bread, etc... For the first 2 months I was TOTALLY like that!  And it felt so GREAT to be in control of it all.  It was something I hadn't experienced in so long.  Now I feel out of control again.  I have to get on board with something though.  As much as I hate living my life in a state of "diet" -- if I don't do something soon it's just going to all continue going down hill from here!

I honestly think that's the answer....you've got to find a "lifestyle" that works for you, not a "diet".  I think when we hear diet, we instantly feel deprived and want to know how long before I can go back to eating "normal".  Thing is, for most of us, I believe....this has got to be a lifestyle choice.  Just wish I had made the decision 30 years ago.  You will find what works for you...just keep researching.  I can't believe that it's taken me my whole life to realize I'm this sensitive to the grains.  Live and learn I guess.

Yup, Sherrie and Jenn - I always pass the bread basket right on by...and the dessert tray...and the chips basket. I am finally catching on that those types of food do not help me get to my goal. I only allow them rarely - not every time like before! I get some grief with every birthday party at work - i just don't eat the birthday treats anymore.  Mine, maybe! LOL.

I am with what Jersey said..use it as motivation and you have a month maybe within that month you can drop maybe 10 lbs or something..every little bit helps.  I actually heard the other day..i believe it was if you lose 1 lb..it takes 4lbs off your joints and stuff.. As Jersey said..you can reverse this!!
