Equal, Splenda, or Stevia?

I read about Stevia in "Skinny *****".  Sounded like a good substitute for Splenda.  But I've had Splenda since it came out on the market and I've never had any bad side effects.  I'm not moving away from it.

My line is that artificial sweeteners are the most widely studied food additive and millions of $ later, there are not substantiated claims of real danger if you use them. The one claim that they may mess with insulin levels is valid. Yet, diabetics should choose sugar free in many cases in their foods. Having said that, I tend to avoid them. For the most part, they are in foods that are "extra"  foods - not real food that I "should" be eating.  I will NOT delete diet pepsi..no sireee.  I only have one a day if that. I trained myself years ago, with not much adjustment to eat cereals with no added sugar or sugar subs.  When you do that, you realize most cereal have enough sweet taste just as they are.  Oats are best to my palate with berries or nuts.  I LOVE real butter on it, actually! Jams, desserts, drinks...et all...I would rather have less of the real thing. Behavioral studies show that people, when offered sugar subbed foods, will eat the same number of calories, for example, more sugar free jam, more sugar free cookies, so where is the savings and the point of eating them? I KNOW that my general judgment is oh, it's sugar free, i can eat two more. And, label readers know that the calories are not necessarily lower, either!  Try your PA advice, but don't be real surprised if you still crave carbs ( i guess you really mean grains, as in processed carbs, fruits & veggies are carbs, too!).  See if the advice works, then do what you want to.  We all do eventually, right?  LOL!

Diet Coke is my favorite drink.  My hubby also works in the IS department Coke in Charlotte.  I will miss that the most.  But I will try to go without it for a few weeks and see if I feel better without it.  I will really miss it if I must give it up. It will be a challenge to try to eliminate splenda because it is in everything.  I hope I can do it. All of us decide to give up things for our health and our weight.  It is different for each of us. I am drinking green tea with stevia lately.  I like the taste, so it gives me one beverage I can have.  The vitamin C packets taste good too.  So I found two beverages I can have.

No one can argue with the arguement of: if you want something sugar free and no caloires, why no****er, right?  who knows...it may work greatly for you. There are those who swear by cutting caffeine, arti-sweeteners - good for them, i say!

I actually had never heard of Stevia before, but I have heard plenty about all the others. I personally have been using Splenda ever since it became the only artificial sweetner in the market that did not contain carcinogens. Compared to Equal and Sweet n Low, it actually has the best taste too. I hadn't heard of anything regarding increased cravings because of these sweetners. I use Splenda just for my coffee, and I usually go for water. I don't like diet sodas or flavored waters because they leave me with a lingering saccharine taste that just makes me want to throw up. Brown sugar is good too...

I haven't seen any products with saccharine lately.  If you find any, please let me know what they are.  All of the diet sodas and flavored waters have Splenda in them.
