Atkins Day 10 - GOT BEEF???
I don't "constantly"...only with folks who feel they have to be right and I prove them otherwise. For example, I'm having trouble with my team, yes, and my trainer yes, but not the multitude of others there that I'm friendly with and who don't carry such a weight of insecurity that they are bothered by what? my focus? my quiet?
Here--again, the few folks I had trouble with tend to comment to things not even written. Not something for me to give much credence to.
Easy going is how those closest to me would describe me, but since you don't know me, you can't see that.
Doesn't matter. We don't have to get along. I can live without it.
Atkins is "only" a theory too, based on correlations. He was selling a product, don't forget...a whole line of them.
...last time any human body response or true impact due to any study/theory was PROVEN...check Hitler's inhumane studies on (Jewish) humans.
You won't find any proof of anything anyone says here. Results speak volumes. Any one of us have lost LOTS of weight due to plan X,Y, Z.
Proof in my mind is years...YEARS of maintained loss. Andy has credibility. Donnamarie does. Mary does. JA does. If I have missed anyone, let me know.
The rest of us - me included - are theories in motion.
We'll have to agree to disagree I think. But I have one last statement for the record.
Saturated fats do not clog your arteries. Trans fats (processed foods) do clog your arteries. I do my best to avoid trans fats. I also try to make sure my saturated, unsaturated and polyunsaturated fats are balanced. Eating meat, cheese, eggs and some veggies will help to do that.
Just for clarification, saturated fats are largely naturally occurring trans fats. Again, I must bring up the AMA who has reversed heart disease with their regimen of almost no animal fat in diets of their patients. My dad was a heart patient - the natural side benefit for most people is weight loss, but sure, there could be heart patients who did not lose weight eating that way.
Do what works, Kriz. I won't argue with results. (read here: years down the road after years of maintenance of 75% of excess weight gone). I hope you know me by now that I love to argue. Some can't take it, but you can, right?
Actually, I believe it's that trans fats occur naturally in unsaturated fats. To be precise, unsaturated fats come in two shapes, "cis" and "trans". It has to do with the positioning of the hydrogen atom on the carbon chain. "cis" fats are far, far more common than trans though trans do occur naturally. Also, bacteria won't eat trans-fats. And since we have bacteria in our guts.. something to think about eh? It has to go somewhere. :)
Learned something new from this, Neecee. The trans fat that occurs naturally in meats and dairy products is called "vaccenic acid". It is the main trans fatty acid in milk fat. Mammals (that's us!) convert it into rumenic acid. Rumenic acid has been shown to have anticarcinogenic properties. Now the question is, does the "good" about natural trans fat outweigh the bad?? I dunno.. but I bet I can figure it out. :)
