the biggest loser

At first I really worried about this...first few months I saw certain parts get loose and crepe-y.  But the more I lost and the way I continued with exercise, it definitely minimized it for me.  I don't have great skin elasticity, IMO--had stretch marks from age 10 on--but I think I'll be okay, tolerable.  If I had WLS, all bets would be off and PS would be a given.  To lose weight that fast--it doesn't give the body time to adjust. I'm grateful I chose as I did.  I remember asking Ian about his own experience. 180lbs lost and you wouldn't know he was ever fat.  He had said to me, "that why we build you up first with the muscle." Gives the skin form on the way down. Considering it's 45lbs now, nothing is really sagging.  I've got my trouble spots, but so does every woman my age....

Hi SS!   I have a love/hate relationship with Biggest Loser. I hate it when it come to the weigh ins - THAT is not real life, and only people like us who work hard at loss know how rdiculous it is to expect more than a couple pounds a week loss. well meaningful loss that is. Not always, cuz the bigger you are, the more weight one can lose quickly at first in any plan, but in general, 2-3# a week rate shows a person is learning something about losing. These people are not in a real life scenario - away from spouses and family who can affect food choices, or away from real life stressors like work, house care, etc. And the concept of any working married/committed person being able to work out more than 1-2 hours a day is ridiculous, unless you are with another work a holic. I love it because I hope anyway that these folks are developing a love for exercise and weaning away from the crappy food fare they usually ate (by their own admission).  I cry at the emotion we all feel when it comes to weight gain.  I love and feel validated when some of them work as hard as it shows and STILL do not lose all that fast.  My body is very much like that.

I love how very supportive their families seem to be - they really love them and are allowing them to be away for this self-discovery.  I love how much they morph from the MO people they were. I love reality shows in general, too!
