If  you drink a protein drink that is low in sugar and has about 15g of protein or you eat a boiled egg, which do you think actually leaves you feeling fuller longer?  I wonder if the drink would actually be less filling than the egg even though the one egg has less protein?  I'm thinking it might  just because one is a liquid.

Having done both, I can tell you I get more mileage from the protein drink. More volume plus more protein=longer sustainability. Eggs are fairly liquid too, once inside your gut. They pass through quickly. Toss some fiber (fruit?) into that shake and give your belly some work to do-- that'll provide energy and help sustain you longer.

Brenda, I have some Vanilla Whey Protein powder (from WalMart) that I blend with skim milk and about 3 frozen strawberries.  Yum!  Tastes  like a strawberry shake.  I prefer it to chocolate.  I sometimes use a banana instead. Very good and filling. Bren

I was just looking at this site that has a carb listing for various things.  Strawberries aren't too bad.  It had a listing on their of fattening foods too.  I couldn't believe it, a banana split has 91g of carb. Even though I'm not real big on sweets I do like to have a banana split from time to time in the summer.  Boy, I better think twice! We are going to my brother's house on Saturday for easter dinner and my mother is bringing stuffing.  I love stuffing with a passion!  It was also on the list and is horrendously high in carb.  I'm in big trouble.  I was going over in my head that I was going to try and abstain from the sweets, but didn't give much thought about the dressing.  I want to stay home and not go through with this torture.  Brenda

Depending on the drink I think..I have one that i do for breakfast and i have chocolate and vanilla and its not thick really at all..its like just drinking a chocolate milk..8 oz...i have one that i do for lunch and its thicker and its more filling..But I always eat a banana or some kind of fruit with my snack to get in my fruits for the day..So i say the drink

I say the drink also.  Even if it doesn't fill you up, it is more than the egg.  When I was using them soley to lose weight I had to have one, and then again two hours later for my snack.  I never did like it that way, I ended up drinking two of them together and then I would be fine until lunch time.  At least for a while until I lost a lot of weight and got my hunger in control.  But yea, most definitely a protein shake.

Hands down, the drink! Although the egg is a close second.

Never tried protien drinks... but could you just have the egg and a big glass of water for the liquid?
