'I Can Make You Thin With Paul McKenna' on TLC
Suzanne, you can go to www.tlc.com/thin and from that page you can go to McKenna's website. On his website, all of the information is there and there are video clips, but I haven'****ched them, yet. You have to sign in and then you can watch the clips.
I'll have to see if there are going to be recaps. I'll let you know.

I like those words "relationship between your brain and food"
my DD and I were chatting about this this weekend in fact. My older GS, 8 yo, not fat but built like a brick house, exhibits familial traits, i.e., his "appestat" may be broken. For example, he will ask for a second sandwich. Now we ask him to wait 20 minutes and if he still wants another, we will make him a half.
My body is exactly like that - Now....at age 50 fachissakes, I can make myself wait. But in retrospect, i realize I acquired THE HABIT of eating more at meals.
I was active enough that i did not get to Morbid Obesity. But I taught my body, with the help of genetics, to become almost a worse thing: a thick bodied, weight loss resistant, muscle bound female footballer.
I mean, I'm fine looking like a strong woman, but I did not realize that is what i did.
Hope I can catch this show! Thanks for the heads up.
Went to eat Chinese food yesterday. I noticed that I was shoveling the food in because it tasted so good. I guess in my mind-set, I didn't want to get full fast cuz I wanted the taste to last. This is such sick behavior.
Dh and I invited a friend to eat with us, and I noticed that she was eating slowly. We ate so much more than she did, and I know she noticed how fast we were eating. I was embarassed for us!
I hope to learn these techniques. I really think it would help me in my weight loss.
If anybody missed the program, you can go to TLC to get more info. Plus, check your local listings, I'm sure it will be on again this week.

I definitely eat more when I eat too fast. I want the taste to last especially if it taste oh so good. Then come the seconds. My problem now is that I have gotten used to taking small bites and eating slowly so I get full before I want to so I will sometimes almost force the last of what is one my plate because I don't want to miss it. It sucks.
I need to practice the art of quitting when I think I am full. It a hard thing for me. I had a banana and 1/2c oatmeal for breakfast. I only ate 1/2 of my oatmeal and honestly, I full 1/2 way my banana but just HAD to fini**** Question is: Why?
Maybe I need to close my eyes. lol

My personal opinion is that this is just another person trying to make money off of the fat. He's not telling us anything we don't already know. C'mon you guys.. you already know that slowing down and tasting your food will help you to realize your hunger and satiety. You already know all the things to get you motivated to lose weight and to exercise. You know what you need to do.. all he's gonna do is take your money and whisper sweet nothings about how "you can do it." You know you can do it. You don't need this guy to tell you so. Besides, has he ever been fat or gone through what you're going through? Prolly not...what does he know.
Chris, this show is on TLC for free. His website with all of the information is free. You can buy the book if you want to, but you don't need it to get what he is saying.
I don't know if you saw the program, but there's a LOT more to it than hunger and satiety. The only part I didn't agree with was eating whatever you want. But he says that if you really get in touch with the taste of your food by eating so slowly and being aware of it, instead of scoffing it down, you'll reach a point that you realize just how much sugar and salt is in your favorite foods.
But I like his approach to the brain/food connection. And to me, it was encouraging to hear his point of view. Just my opinion.
What in the world is wrong with the counter on this post? Sometimes this whole site can get weird!

The "I can make you thin" kit is $94.97?? The TLC show isn't the whole thing. I haven'****ched it so I may be talking out of my ass but it sounds more like he's doing the TLC to raise awareness about his book(s). Advertising so to speak? I could be wrong.. (shrug) If it works for someone then that's wonderful. I'm just very opinionated when it comes to people selling things for weight loss.

Farmer Chris, I hate to break the news to you, but Atkins made millions off of the very diet that you are currently using to lose weight. And I thank God that he did or I'd still be huge.
So, it doesn't bother me that this guy is using this as an ad for his product, it's not costing me anything, and I think it helps people keep focus on what it takes to lose weight.
I'll take all of the encouragement I can get!
