Anyone use Medifast?

Hello lovely people. I have been researching a few diets and found medifast. The portion control and six small meals meets criteria of my doctor and myself. The website is full of information and the support website is free to join. Cost is comparable to other portion controlled diets but I do notice sodium content is lower then others I have considered. Is anyone using or tried medifast? Have a great weekend ~~ Alexcia

I'll give you a completely honest response on my account.... I had to do medifast for two weeks.  All I had were bars, soups and shakes.  I did this as a pre-surgery thing so I was not eating other food along with it.  The bars were OK, the shakes were mediocre -- the soups were ALL horrible.  I remember telling my mom over the phone that I had had cream of chicken soup for lunch and it had neither had chicken nor cream in it!  I belly-ached through the two weeks because I didn't have a choice but I would never CHOOSE to do the medifast again in my life....especially since it isn't something I could see myself doing long-term.

I haven't used it on a regular basis but I've tasted the shakes and the puddings. Ughh..  I guess that's fine if you have no taste buds or can really just stick to it to get the job done. I haven't tried any of there other stuff though.  Personally, I don't like it because it's not sustainable.  If you want to lose weight then my recommendation would be a lowered carb program.  Once you get your weight off then you can switch to a more balanced eating plan. By the way, Alexcia is a beautiful name!

Hi

I've lost over 100 pounds on medifast.  It came back fairly fast (over about 6-8 months) and it did total havoc on my body.  I swear I aged at least ten years from that experience.  Be careful, and personally, I don't recommend it unless you actually eat some kind of wholesome food within a meal at least once a day.  That way I believe can work and probably keep it off.  For all I know I might go back to doing this myself.  :)  But I will NEVER go back on it fully.

Good luck

I lost 14lbs on Medifast in the first two weeks, and not another pound for the next 6 months.  I have leftovers if you want to buy cheaply : ). REgardless, it was a learning experience for me.  VLCD IMO are not the way to go.  They wreak havoc on your metabolism (that's why regain happens so quickly) and set you up for future failure. I've learned the proper way since for permanent weight loss.
