Well I decided

To go on South Beach as of today.  Debated about it last night (thanks for all the responses), talked to hubby, and I'm gonna do it.  Several months on WW is long enough.  Sort of scared I'm picking the wrong day to start, think all of what I've been feeling the past few days is mucus in my chest.  Kids must of got me sick and went straight to my chest (of course, always does).  So Mucinex time it is! I also went back to my old meds for now, I'm gonna switch one at a time and see what happens.  So I'm gonna  put in a chic flic or psycho movie and keep low today.

I'm gonna get a few chicken breasts in the oven pronto since I don't know how I'm gonna be feeling later on.  I need to prepare some meals or munchie food fast.  I'm dreading these first two weeks, but I'm determined to make it work.  What I'm hoping for is that I find it simple enough to stay on it for a longer amount of time than the two weeks!

I bought a different SB book last night and all I can say is there list of foods I can eat really stinks.  They don't explain it on here very well at all!!  I want to join the SB website, they say its five bucks a week, but you have to pay quartterly or something like that so it comes out to $65 bucks.  I don't want to do that, not yet anyway.  So I've been crusing around websites and came across a few lists from forums.  They are a lot different than what is in the book, although I know he changed rules over the years.  I'm trying to figure out whom I should believe and use.  Makes it sort of hard.  Anyone know of a SB forum that I can trust??  I'm going to do more investigating again today.

So Chris, I'm doing phase one with you! Well sort of. :)

And off I go!

Holly, I belonged to the SB online site years ago.  On there they had a recipe site (not affiliated) you can use.  I found it in the losing over 100 forum.  I hope this gives you some great ideas.  It breaks down the recipes by phases.  Here you go:  http://www.southbeachcenturyclub.com/ I hope switching your meds around helps.  I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed for you. I'm glad you came to a decision and you're starting now.  I found lots of stuff on the web about Atkins...  I get my best info from those who have lost a great deal of weight.  They seem to have been through it all at one point or another in their journey.  I hope you can find the same kind of info for SB. I hope you get to feeling better soon....

Ya know, I keep looking and sure theres lots of forums and lots of people say pretty much the same thing.  BUT, even with that it almost seems like things fall through the holes and people make things legal with a twist. kwim?  Sooooo, I keep thinking theres no way I want to redo this again.  I'm sick of not losing so I might as well do it right.  So I'm gonna go join the regular website to make sure I'm doing it right.

Good luck, Holly....you must be relieved to have made a decision!!  I just went out and bought the Atkins book today.  Now how does SB differ from Atkins?  SB is one I never tried...well, Atkins either. Hope you're feeling better soon!!

having been on every diet known to man, of course, i have done SB!  And, even though I don't call it that anymore, it is the way I eat, technically. Unless I am completely high, SB and The Zone are bascially the same way of eating:  higher protein40%/moderate fat30%good grains/veggies30%. The Zone website is freeeeeee, and very very good information (recipes, health studies, etc). One way I recall they phrased it is your plate would be roughly speaking 1/3 lean protein + 1/3 good grains (barley, ww pasta, etc) 1/3 veggies. SB is a bit more understandable. I like it cuz it seems like good sensible items, the only things left out are white processed flours, sugary things, etc.  Ya know...all the stuff you KNOW aint supposed to be in your face too often.
