Well I think I've about had it

I'm going to talk to my doctor on the 24th when I go in for my lab results to check with what he thinks about why I can't seem to lose weight.  But this is getting really ridiculous.  I'm past the crying stage, now I'm just getting very bitter and angry with myself.

In two days I will have been on Core for a month.  I LOVE Core, and I think it's a great program.  But  I have a feeling it is meant "for me" to be on maintenance instead of losing.  I get so mad because all these women there say you lose faster on Core, or at your weight you will lose no matter what.  Well here is my monthly stats..

Before I switched to Core I was on flex for a few months and nothing happened. I battled around 300 since I think November??   I had a bad binge right before I started Core and gained six pounds.

Starting 306  (binge, normally weigh 300)

First week 302 - ( I have always lost fast after a binge if I correct my eating, so this was no suprise)

Second week - 300 Now this was a little suprise, but I always stick around 300.  I thought to myself the next few weeks will tell the tale.

Third week - 299.4  Half a pound..that's it.

Fourth week -  I'm back up between 300-301

For the amount of weight  I weigh I can't see why it won't go down any further, or faster for that matter.  I'm hesitating if I should even continue this or give it one more week.

I've decided that if I switch, I'm going to do South Beach.  I'm more leaning on starting the introduction phase tomorrow.  I've also read that people with a BMI over 35 can stay on introduction safely for up to two months (if I choose).  I'm really wondering if I can't even eat healthy grains right now.

Just want your input on if you guys think I should switch now or wait.

You gave it a good solid month minus 2 days.  I say switch..but then you already knew my opinion! :P

Holly....I think a solid month.. if you were doing the do all the way and seeing no weight loss is long enough. You gotta do what works for YOUR body.. not all of those other women there.  If it's working for them.. God bless and more power to 'em, but you already know you are dealing with other issues such as insulin resistence. This is ALL trial and error.  If medicine in itself was an exact science.. I wouldn't think they'd call it a "practice" .. so take what you know about yourself and run with it.   You ARE going to find your groove... I have no doubt, but the only way that's going to happen is by experimenting.   I guess count me as 1 vote for "move on".

OK... I confess to being clueless.

What exactly is CORE? What do you eat/ not eat?

What exercise are you doing/ how intense/ how often?

Looking at your loss numbers it seems in total you have lost 6lbs in 4 weeks?  Sure it's up a TINY bit this week but you have lost overall right? Try and remember, weight loss is not a fast thing, it took a long time to gain the weight and it takes a long time for it to come off too.  I say it seems to be working at a 'big picture' level- give it more time.

I'm also taking into consideration 1) I was on flex for a few months before(the other WW plan .  2) that 306 weight was from a binge.  I always lose it all within a week or two if I eat correctly.  Just the week before that I was around 300.

Core is a plan off of Weigh****chers.  It's pretty much a low carb, low fat diet.  You can't have any processed foods at all, no white rice, etc.  Your allowed brown rice or potato once a day, and cereal once a day.  It's basically eating healthy!  I actually really loved it.  You still get to eat cornmeal (polenta), oatmeal, barley, that kind of grains.  Only whole grains basically.

My exercise has been spuratic (sp?),  but better than before.  I'm trying to do a half an hour on my bike a day to start off with.  My lungs sometimes won't let me though so I probably only do it three times a week. Last night after just ten minutes I felt it big time, but I pushed for thirty.  Today there's no way I could, my lungs would just tighten up.  So I am tryin! :)  LOL, and sit ups in bed!haha  I know, I'm pathetic, lol but the floor hurts my butt when doing them!ha

Core sounds alot like what I eat.

May be worth trying to pick up the amount of exercise to daily- even if for a short 20 minute walk and see what happens?

How frustrating that must be.  To find a program you like, but not get the results.  It's definitely time after giving it a solid month to move on.  I tried South Beach a couple of years ago and did like it. I hope you are feeling better today.  I just read your other post.  Hopefully your dr. will give you a referral to an allergist.   Instead of using your bike, could you use resistance bands and exercises to work specific muscles instead?  I just got a set of exercises from my exercise physiologist and it doesn't get you worked up, but at the same time it really works those muscles.  I found when I did the exercises I really felt it in the muscles I worked, but since it isn't aerobic my heartrate (and lung function) were fine. Just a thought.

Interesting holly, i too am doing WW but I am doing the points, online. I  THOUGHT about doing the core but one) did not read into it enough and really am not sure what it entails..... ****il your post now) and two) i was somewhat successful with the points before. Is 306 your heaviest weight? I agree with everyone that its time to switch to a new plan, but at the same time if you LOVED it, that is kinda hard. What about calorie intake, is that as important on the CORE plan? I am not sure that is why im asking. If so are you maybe taking in too many calories? i know its so damn hard.... being 400 pounds i know that is why i took off so much in the first 2 weeks, so i understand why your stumped on not losing more being at 300. It is kinda odd. saying that, yeah maybe you should switch to a new plan. Track your calories ( i know it sucks) on a normal day of eating now, and when you switch maybe aim to take away 200 calories a day. Or whatever you can handle, if u can handle more. UGH why does food have to be such a big part of our every MOMENT.

Oh Holly, I feel your pain.  I am so undecided what to do right now too.  I think if you've been honest with the program for a month and haven't done anything essentially except lose your 6 lb binge weight, I would also think of moving on. Your exercise (or lack of it) is probably a big problem....I know it's a BIG problem for me.  I just can't motivate myself to start anything.  I have the exercise tapes, Biggest Loser strength training and exercise tapes, stationary bike, gazelle and I sit here and do essentially nothing.  Not sure what my problem is. I think you're right....we are a lot alike and maybe we are just not able to handle any of the grains at all.  It certainly won't hurt to give the South Beach a try....haven't looked at that one in a while....like Atkins only less strict, right? Just don't give yourself the leeway of eating off program (whatever program) while you're trying to make up your mind.  If you're anything like me....you could put those 6lb right back on in a blink of an eyelash. We'll get this straight one of these days....just gotta keep on trying!  I'm in your corner and cheering you on, girl!!
