I feel like crap

My head hurts, and my chest hurts, it feels like a dirty thick heavy towel is over my lungs and along  my passage way to get air.  I can't breathe well, haven't since yesterday morning.  My eyes are so heavy and hurting because I'm sooo tired.  It hurts my chest worse it seems like when I slept last night so I didn't get much sleep.  Not sure why, it usually doesn't?!?!

I got a few sick kids in the house so not sure if I'm getting sick (I don't feel sick), but the doctor took me off zyrtec and singulair (which I've been on daily for over a year), added a nasal steriod, and made me restart my flovent which I got off about three weeks ago.  Not sure if I'm getting sick or having withdrawals from old meds, or side effects from new meds?  Lol I'm miserable!  I just called and left a message for the doc, I want to see an allergist.  I want to breathe again, NORMALLY!  I'm getting so sick of this crap, heck I'm not even sure it's allergies.  I feel like half the time doctors don't even know what they are saying. I'm gonna be pissed if he says no, that he won't give me a referral.

Anyone have any suggestions of all this is from  getting off my pills, or restarting a drug, or starting a new one!  Lol dang, that just made me feel like I'm a pharmacist!ha

UGHH this really sucks

Allergic reaction to new meds? Getting sick. Call your doc.....they will probably know. And you should really do that never know it could be something really serious!

Sounds like the flu to me.  Or kiddos gave you something. Let us know what the doctor says. Good luck.  Hope you feel better soon! Bren

I looked it up real quick and I see that some folks report intense itching after stopping zyrtec..  I dunno.. this sounds like maybe you picked up what the kiddies have.  I wouldn't chance it.. you're having trouble breathing... I'd go to the allergist. Praying for your comfort, sweetie...

OMG you figured out another issue for me!ha  I didn't even think about looking it up for my itching.  I've been itching nonstop!!!  My daughter keeps on laughing at me now since I'm having withdrawals --itching.  She keeps on teasing me like thinking I'm having myth withdrawals.lol  crazy kid

Well I cleaned my room and the kitchen really well.  I told my two teenagers they both have a room to clean THOROUGHLY to get rid of the dust and animal hair and dander.  I've been getting upset that they haven't done it by now.  But now that both of them are in there finally all they are doing is playing.  Lol, 18 & 16 year olds playing while cleaning.  They are so close so I don't mind, but man they are loud and it takes F-O-R-E-V-E-R for them to get anything done.  One of them has a broom as a sword and my son bought him a $120 dollar Jedi sword (star wars).   One would never know their ages!ha

Holly....so sorry you are feeling so lousy.  It could be a combination of going off both meds at once after being on them for so long and a flu bug you may have picked up from the kids.  It does sound like the flu.  Sure hope you get some answers from the MD...you may need a visit to check out your lungs.  Insist on the referral!! Will be saying a prayer for you....Sherrie

Holly poor thing!! *HUG* maybe its a combo of both! withdrawls AND getting something from the kids. I agree with everyone else, get into an alergist. I wouldnt take no for an answer! Ask to speak to him directly if you must. let us know how you are doing tomorrow and what happens

OK if I stop taking my singulair (which I've been on consistently for 5-6 months). if I forget to fill my prescription or something, I feel it the second day.  I can't breathe -- feel pressure on my chest and can't get my breath with any exertion. As for sleeping -- MUCH worse in the morning when you first wake up -- and very hard to sleep when it's aggravated -- so you having problems sleeping does not surprise me.  You may actually need to see a pulmonologist rather than an allergist!  If you have been on asthma meds this long, my bet is that there is a reason for it.  My understanding is that asthma really doesn't go away for most people.  It may be something you deal with the rest of your life.  Anyway they can test you and they will do much more than just stick you on the run of the mill drugs. As for allergies in general -- are there certain things that you can pinpoint that are setting you off?  I think you mentioned pet hair.  We have two dogs and I know when my asthma and allergies are especially bad, we have to keep the puppies a little bit more confined so that I am not IN the pet hair and don't have it in my face all the time.  Also keep in mind that things are in the air.  One of the worst times for me is when it begins to get warm and we start using the air conditioning -- crap in the air ducts!  You mentioned it's in the 40's -- I know you're in Alaska but surely you aren't using air conditioning in 40 degree weather!  LOL   I feel for you, I really do.  I completely understand the frustration.   The only suggestion I can make as far as sleeping goes is to try to sleep as propped up as possible -- it is much worse for me when I am laying down flat -- the pressure is much heavier on my chest that way.  Get your butt to a pulmonary specialist!
