Breakfast: 4 cups (real cups) of coffee with <2 tbsp non-dairy creamer, 4 packs equal 2 egg patties (0 carbs, 0 sugar) 2 sausage patties (Checked these, 0 carbs, 0 sugar) Lunch: 2 cups lettuce 1/4 cup or so of ranch dressing. turns out it was way to much cuz it was drowning in it! 6-8 green olives 6-8 black olives 2-3 tablespoons herb & garlic feta cheese 3-4oz herb & garlic pork loin 1/2 cup zucchini, asparagus and portabella mushroom Dinner: 6-8oz thin baked chicken breast with BBQ seasoning <1oz grated parmesan cheese melted on the chicken 1 cup or slightly less of squash, onion, green/red bell pepper that was baked with the chicken Snack: (but really part of dinner) 6 slices pepperoni 3 cuts (28 grams/.5 ounces) mild cheddar cheese (18 slices=6 ounces) Water:  I'll have at least 80 ounces for the day by the time I go to bed. Possibly more. How I feel??  OH HOLY FULLNESS!  Lunch came and the guys were asking if I was ready to eat. Sure! I'm always ready to eat!  Was I hungry?  Heck naw! I was still stuffed and burping up sausage from breakfast at 8am and here it was 12pm.  I went to lunch anyway. I started on the salad first and decided to eat about half of it and then at the pork and veggies. I was stuffed but man, that salad was still there so I ate it too!  I brought 2 slices of cheese with me for a snack but I was so full after lunch I didn't even think about a snack.  About 7:15ish I started feeling a small rumble in my belly saying it was time to eat.  I ended up eating dinner around 8:15pm.  That's almost 8 hours after lunch with no snack and it didn't even phase me.  Now it's after dinner and I feel quite satisfied. I had previously purchased some ketone strips. I bought these about 2 weeks before I actually got the book.  I had already anticipated starting Atkins back then but wanted to read the whole book. Well, I decided to do **** test after dinner..cuz well.. I just wanted to. :)  Guess what!? YEP, I'm in ketosis!  I didn't think I'd enter it this quickly. Looks like my body takes less than 2 days to burn off the glucose. This gets me excited!  I doubt 10 or 20 lbs is just going to WHOOSH off but a man can dream can't he?  Either way at least I know I'm burning fat..now whether that's fat on my body or fat from my food I'm not sure. EDIT: According to the bottle of Ketone test strips my ketone level is "Moderate".

wOOt! It is amazing, truly, how un-hungry you feel on high fat/high protein!  Hey, did you see the recipe the other day from somebody with the 32 ounce yogurt & 2 pkg sugar free jello? Weeeellllll, one could buy the full fat organic yogurt (maybe not in induction, but maybe - read the label) The one we have around here has no added sugar, full fat old time yogurt! Brown Cow, I think?  Look, don't get all whooshy on me like that State Trooper! If this is something you can do and the weight comes off, even slowly, and no hunger???? Just be grateful! Good job!

I know right!  Although what I ate sounds like a lot it's really no more "volume" wise than I was eating before. The difference is I'm eating richer, denser foods and they seem to stay with much, much longer.  It's definitely a helluva lot more calories! I remember seeing something about the desert you mentioned.  I'll have to sift back through the posts and find it. I'll be grateful for anything that comes off! I've been maintaining for so long now I swear even and ounce would make me giddy! :P

http://recipes.robbiehaf.com/O/573.htm This site has a lot of look a like recipes - she tries to include low-carb versions.  I learned about using cauliflower for mashed potatoes, for example.  Love those.  1 head cauli, cooked well, drained well, mashed/blended with butter, sour cream, salt & pepper.  I then bake it in a low dish for a half hour to dry it out more, sprinkle with paprika.

Wow, you ate a lot. ha Can't wait until it's weigh in day for you! Can't wait to see the results of the first couple of weeks. LOL your my guinea pig. Lol, nah just kidding....I hope it works for you, you deserve it. :)

I was just looking over what you ate again.  My husband would be in heaven eating like that!

It was a lot of calories but to be honest the size of the food on the plate was quite small. Well..The lettuce would've filled up a decent sized plate but otherwise it was small.  The pork was about 3 inches long by 1.25 inches tall. The chicken I ate was about the same. I'm guessing at the ounces to be honest.  I realize this is only my second day and I'm in a "honeymoon" stage, but this isn't hard. I love these foods I'm eating. I really do!  I've never really been a pasta person but I do enjoy rice, breads, and sweets. Moreso though, I crave meats, fats and tasty veggies. I'm weird like that so this fits in nicely with me. I *LOVE* asparagus, zucchini, squash, onions, eggplant, broccoli, green beans and the further I progress with this the more variety I'll be able to consume. Can't wait! :P    So far I'm not craving any of the off-limits foods. That doesn't mean that those cravings won't come.  When they do I will be prepared. Jerz gave me a great site with plenty of easy to make low carb recipes for sweets and all sorts of delicious meals.  I'm looking forward to cooking this way! :P I'll be your guinea pig. I have no qualms about that!  If what I am doing somehow inspires you or helps you to come to a point of clarity in your mind about how to deal with your obesity then I'll gladly plunge head first into the sea of fat for you!

LOL! Chris,  You should be a writer.  I just got a mental picture of the "sea of fat".  I really love this group!  Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Please share the web sites that Jersey shared with you, or have Jersey share them.  Thanks! Right now I am looking at recipes for cooking with Stevia. Loretta

I believe the site owner requested that the site not be publicly shared on message boards. More than likely he/she wishes to limit bandwidth usage. Send a PM to Jersey if you're interested. I'll let her control the distribution. I think someone else said something about me being a writer in the past. To be honest I'm not so sure I'd be real good at it! Maybe for short stories or something. :P

LOL, how funny. My husband just called us dorks! ha  I want that cake up there, I have splenda!  Tonight I had such a craving, made my own type of pizza "core style" while everyone else ate the real thing.  I did it though, yay!

Ya know, one thing that bothers me is the whole cholestrol bit. I actually just skimmed through it real fast, but need to still read it thoroughly.  Of course it said that people with high cholestrol will benefit from this plan.  Not to get into a debate or anything, but today I look at other sites about Atkins and they say for people who have high cholestrol to stay away from this diet.  I've read this a few times today reading here and there on the net.  I, like Sherry, have high cholestrol and I take Crestor (my med) religiously every day, and my  cholestrol is even high with meds.  So this is sort of scary just taking the "books word".  Know what I mean??  Just one thing that bothers me.

I have to go back to my docs for my lab results on the 24th, I think I might talk to him about it and see what he says.  He'll probably flip, but I still would like his input on it.   If it would hurt me I think he would say something.  I'm hoping my lab work will show some kind of improvement since although I haven't been able to lose much weight this last six months I'm eating a LOT healthier.  That would be cool though to see some kind of improvement!  Lol, get something out of it!!

Remember that just because your LDL cholesterol is "high" it does not mean you're going to have a blocked artery.  Now, if your HDL is LOW and your LDL is HIGH then you are at a greater chance, especially if you have a high triglyceride level. My triglycerides are normal, by HDL is low and my LDL is slightly elevated  The Atkins diet, if done correctly, will actually significantly INCREASE your HDLs and LOWER your triglycerides. So while your LDL level may remain the same or even increase it is not unhealthy because you have plenty of HDL cholesterol to bring the fatty acids/cholesterol away from the arteries back to the liver to excretion or to reuse it.  My theory for the reason this works is the amount of Omega-3 and other "good" fats that you will be consuming on Atkins. It is well known that these fats HELP your cholesterol levels, especially Omega 3. You can get Omega 3 from animals and vegetables.  I do not think it exists in your starches unless they've been modified. The "books word" is backed up by peer reviewed studies. It's not just his word. Do another google search on Atkins and cholesterol and peruse with sites with a positive mindset looking for the truth about Atkins and how it affects your cholesterol. There's plenty of studies out there. Here's a small example: http://www.healthcentral.com/cholesterol/c/59/2845/low-high- fat-bad/ " With respect to HDL and triglycerides, the Atkins’ diet not only substantially improved these levels (raised HDL and lowered triglycerides), but it did so by a greater degree than the conventional diet. Based on the above observations, it appears that the Atkins’ diet may not worsen cholesterol levels, and in fact, may improve them." The doctor above claims that the better cholesterol levels are a result of weight loss and not the ingestion of good fats. I however disagree with him. I rather lobby that it is a combination of both good animal fats and weight loss. He also calls this a radical diet. I don't think it's so radical. I think it's more close to how we should be eating. Remember, induction is only 2 weeks and it is NOT how you're supposed to continue to eat. The doctor above's opinion is biased by his nutritional education that fat=bad. Overall I'd give the article a 3 out of 5. Keep searching..the answers are out there and they're pretty easy to find.  Perhaps Jerz can post some of her links to dispel the myths about Atkins.
