Are we overly sensitive?

Guys tend to open the door for me a lot which is courteous.  The thing is I find myself thinking that they open it too wide.  I may be heavy, but no way do I have any problem fitting through a doorway.  I seem to pay attention to this and I wish I didn't think like that.   It's not like it really bothers me, but I'll be curious to see as I lose more weight if this will change.  My guess is that it will.   What do you think?  Do you guys notice things like that? Since I'm male...perhaps I can translate.  It doesn't mean they see you as large. It's merely a form of respect. It's not that they are trying to make the opening larger for you or even that they're trying to stay as far away from you as possible. Rather they're simply moving completely out of the way so that you may move freely and so that you don't have to do anything for yourself. If it helps, think of the man as bowing as he holds the door open.  He is serving you. Almost forgot.  I open the door extremely wide for girls that I am attracted to and allow them to go in first. If it's a woman I'm not so attracted to then I generally just hold the door for them so they don't have to open it completely but I continue on in.  So perhaps these gentlemen have the hots for ya? :)

I'm with Kriz...they are likely making sure there is no rubbing goin on! I'd be okay with that rather than some jerk with gold chains making squeeze past him and slobberin, "how YOU doin?"  seewhaddaimean?

Yup, you're being oversensitive on this one.  You're letting your perception of self influence your perception of their actions. You may know you're not wide, but you seem to fear that others think it, therefore you project that upon them.

Hmm I have never even paid attention to how wide or what not the door is when they open it for me. lol. Ever. Sometimes I have the feeling of "what I can open the door myself ya know" But I am very independent and i have thoughts like that. Like for instance if I am dating someone and they always open the car door for me or ALL doors.....or ALWAYS pay for dinner or a movie...I get annoyed..I am weird I know. But usually when someone opens the door for me I smile and say thank you and I just dont ever think more into it..unless they say something to me like the guy at the gym the other day. So stop thinking that you goofball!
