How Weight and Weight Loss Affects Our Bones
For those of you interested in how our bones are affected by weight, weight loss and malabsortion with WLS, there is a very interesting post on the Plastics Board. It's by Willow, a very intelligent woman (nurse) who has been through a lot, and is great about sharing her experiences. I was shocked!
The post is titled...OT/osteopenia/osteoporosis. Val is great about answering questions if you have any.

This is why, if you are undergoing rapid weight loss, you need supplementation desperately!
I take no less than 1500 mg Calcium Citrate a day, but I suspect a normal human on a diet could do well on less, and it could be Citrate or Carbonate, since you can digest either well. Normal tummies can take Calcium Chews, Calcium Chocolates-- hell, Tums!
And don't abandon dairy! Fat is not the enemy!

Don't abandon dairy is key! That's one thing I'll say for Atkins, I got way more calcium on it than I would have on my own.
Ya know what scares the hell out of me is all of those soft drinks I used to drink in my ill spent youth. Who knew that all of that phosphorous was eating away my bones? Oy!
