Ok.. I'm so bored that I just tortured my cat with the laser pointer and he LOVED it!  He's like 30 lbs so we've been using that and a stuffed fish to get him to exercise.  He's a pretty dangerous guy.. if he knocks into me when I'm standing he actually buckles my knee.. LOL  Mama mia.. what a big one he is! I can really identify with my cat.  I was equal to what he must feel like when I was at 300 lbs.  I can tell by watching him try to get up and how he falls backwards when he tries to clean himself.  He waddles when he walks and he gets winded so easily.  Everything is like a "half effort" with him.  He has to take a running start to jump up on something too...  his female counterpart is so lithe and graceful and she KNOWS it and he can't even chase her.   The bad thing is I can't REASON with the cat and tell him that he's eating too much.  Ya just can't control what a cat is catching and eating outside... the only thing I can do is limit his diet INSIDE.  He probably eats at home and then runs out for a lizard or something. I wish a simple laser pointer and stuffed fish would get my hiny moving like that.  Na.. na.. don't even think it.. I'm not THAT bored.. no one is THAT bored!  LOL

my cat is totally fat too and i feel bad for her. she is only 14 lbs but she is siamese and supposed to be 8-10 lbs and svelte. i visited a friend who has her two brothers and they are literaly half her size. its very sad. friday at petsmart i talked to the guy for like half an hour about my obese cat and what i need to do for her. of course he sold me on some designer brand "lite" version so we'll see (turns out her was a cat food rep, not a petsmart person). at least your guy can go outside and run around - she is cooped up in a tiny apt with only a feather on a stick to entertain her. she won't even jump in the air to get the feather anymore - usually just lies on her back and bats at it with her paws. kinda pathetic. i do however think weight loss would be much easier if i had only one dry, crunchy thing to eat and no choice or variety. it would be like only being able to eat cheerios for the rest of your life. my cat also eats plastic bags, but that's a different issue all together....

That's heavy for a little girl... our little girl just feels so light.. she's more fur than anything.  The vet told us to lock Loki in the room with food for one hour a day.  We just can't do it!  He cries and cries and cries.  I was also told to change the brand of food.. that much I did.   The vet also told us that his going out was contributing to his excessive weight because he IS probably eating out there as well.  Loki is a lazy butt when it comes to exercise... I think he moves enough to catch something to eat, then gets on the cat condo and STRUGGLES to get onto the deck to come in.  I gotta say.. that laser pointer is helping.  The stuffed fish is on a string attached to what looks like a plastic fishing pole which is suckered on the side of the microwave....  I see him going after it on his own and I'm pretty impressed.  He just tires so easily....  I remember that feeling... I feel so bad for him. Alrighty then.. plastic bags!  The strangest think Loki goes for is spaghetti and meatballs.. actually.. he'll beg for anything with garlic on it!  He KNOWS the sound of the package of turkey.. we have to be VERY quiet when we get it out of the fridge or he begs.  30 #  <--  he's bigger than any turkey I've ever cooked.. he's just.. a very big boy I guess.

If Loki is orange, I would bet he is related to Garfield!  It all fits....the size, the favorite foods.

LOL.. My sister calls him GARFIELD.. but he's black and white.  So is Fraya (his wife.. it was an arranged marriage).  They look like bookends sitting up on the bay window. LOL

OH OH.. but there was a nice, juicy orange one on my porch one day...  I don't know that cat but I think he comes around to antagonize Loki.... he just gets so agitated sometimes KNOWING something's out there on his condo!

All in our family love Garfield.  I couldn't resist when you mentioned that Loki loves spaghetti and meatballs. I miss having a cat.  Ours died a year ago.  The other two we had also died.  One was obviously poisoned.  The other one was unexplained. If cats have the freedom to roam outside, they don't survive well in our neighborhood.  Our last cat was 17 years old.  Our neighbor's dog was loose.  The cat hid under our car and he was safe.  But he panicked and ran out.  The dog nailed him and he was gone in an instant. For now I have found our bulldog to have more personality than any dog I have ever owned.  He is like having a third child.   I will have to get my kitty fix at the pet store.  I just can't see having another one only to lose it here.

I'm so sorry about your kitties.

I was actually thinking of getting Loki a miniature pony to ride! LOL   Wait.. a friend called me earlier and said "do you want a turkey".  Apparently there's a turkey that's hanging out on the road every day when he's on his way home.  I was like "NO WAY.. LOKI WOULD EAT IT".

I have two shelties and a cat.  My cat's not over weight (on her way, but not quite there yet) but one of my dogs is.  They have special diet food at the vet that is even lower calorie than the ones in the store.  The doc didn't seem to recommend the ones in the store.  I can't remember if it was fat or calorie wise, but he said it wasn't much different than the regular dog food that you buy.  Take her to a vet that sales prescription diet food, it's worth a shot.

Ahh kitties. lol. My precious 8 month old kitten Milo. I think he is going to be a heffer! lol. I am not sure how much he weighs..my scale at home doesnt work...but a visit to the vet is coming up. But I came home from my 3 day trip in Chicago and looked at him and he was a little bigger as in wider lol. He is much heavier! The little porker likes to eat food out of the bag. Sometime after I fill his dish with his hard kitten food I leave the bag in there CLOSED. I come home ALL the food in his dish is eaten and the bag is knocked over on the floor and he is half way inside the thing filling his face lmao. Its so freakin cute and funny. But I try to put the bag in a cupboard where he cant get it. Little chunky sneaker! I love him to death...he is very active when I am home. I play with him..I need to invest in a laser! He has little toys that I hold and he jumps like 5 feet in the air....no joke! I swear he is half rabbit lol. And he runs around crazy like a cat on crack knocking over my lamps and things and he will fetch and chase me around and attack my legs...he likes to be the "monster under the bed" in the mornings and at night...he hides under there and attacks your feet while you walk past the bed or get into bed...lol. So I try to keep him active so he doesnt get too hefty. :)
