What is
I mean foods like bars, drinks, soups, meals that contain a high level of protein (15 g or more), usually only a little fat (2-4 g, little sat fat), almost no carbs (less than 15 g)
I buy soups from the bariatric doctor store in my town that are 80 cals, 15 g protein, 2 g carbs, no fat. The fruity or hot chocolate drinks are about the same profile.
The bars i get from costco - the whole bar is about 290 cals, 30 g of protein, 20 g carbs, 4 g fat - i eat half at a time.
My bariatric doc's plan is to eat a little Mini-meal every 2-3 hours, using foos this that have very little caloric value but hold you over (liitle or no hunger). Works for me!
I eat a regular meal at night, and try to watch my portions. When I can stick to about 500 cals or so for my night meal, i lose better! Not being successful at that part lately.
EDIT: The down side is the expense. However, for many people who currently buy fast food or lots of high fat, low value carb convenience foods, the cost would be at least the same as blowing on that kind of stuff!
Now ya see, my experience with what bariatric foods are and what Neecee's are, are two different things. Her's sound like a good supplement to a good diet.
What I know about them is what a friend of mine ate before her weight loss surgery. She had to go on a bariatric diet to get her liver shrunk and her BMI down. She ate shakes and little teeny tiny bars and soups that would fit in a thimble. The girl was literally starving to death.
She was just about to go ballistic and eat everything in sight, but her surgeon said she was ready for surgery. Thank goodness, or she would have gained all the weight back from mental issues!

Good points, young Mary! The actual definition may be any foods prescribed by a bariatric doc! I get mine on www.carbessentials.net
The proti-diet brand stuff is all pretty tasty, not gluey or gritty. That soup is amazing. The bars, not really my thing, but I use them for the convenience. I get sick of the sweet flavors.
But, they have a store in our town. Again, expensive stuff, but it helped my scale move and fits in my waaaay busy career life. The foods travel in my bag and my suitcase when I go out of town.
I jokingly call it the Yuppie Diet.
