Ok.. I did it!
I'm up too. Despite hiking 10 miles I'm up. Makes no sense. This whole nutritionist's plan is making me feel good but I'm not losing the weight. I am however learning I really do like fruits. Can't seem to kick the sweet tooth after dinner. I bought sugar free jam for after dinner pb&j's. Probably should just forgo them all together but it's hard. That's the only thing I'm goofing on. Other than that I"m following her plan to a T. When I go to her on the 28th I know she's going to say great job you've lost 5lbs! 5lbs is not acceptable in 32 days time. I've got some more time before I see her though so maybe I can get it straightened out.
Just wanted to tell ya I'm with you on the gaining side and I feel your pain. I'm struggling for any kind of a loss at this point. Atkins is getting more and more appealing every day. I'm on chapter 3 now.
(((((hugs!)))))
While I respect the profession, I can't buy into the "what's good for me is good for you" mode of thinking. There are way too many variables.
There is no "one size fits all" to nutrition. Our bodies are different.. have different needs. I think the greatest thing about what you are doing now is that you are FEELING BETTER! Isn't that the bottom line.. to feel better?
I think it's admirable that you are exploring your options.... and a nutritionist is great place to start. You are learning a lot about yourself and ultimately, knowledge is going to be what gets you to your goal. Hey, I've talked to people who couldn't find a carb in a pile of mashed potatoes with both hands and a flashlight.... learning is important.
I gotta agree.. the after dinner PB&J's are keepin' ya down. IF you were doing Atkins, I'd recommend 2 sugar free jellos with a glop of homemade whipped cream (made with splenda) on it. It tastes very sweet and seems to satisfy Jon (who is a former cake, pie, cookie and crap junkie). But if you're shooting for low fat.. I just have no clue. Shari mentioned a tasty cream cheese pudding treat.. I did it the high fat way and couldn't stop sticking my finger in it! LOL
But it's sugar free strawberry preserves!! :( It's the peanut butter with the sweet that I crave. I love peanut butter. I opted for the Skippy Natural peanut butter but in all honesty it's not much different than regular ole JIF.
You know I was thinking about your Coke Zero and other sugar free, artificial sugar products. It's thought that those product cause and insulin response similar to sugar. How do you think that would affect your body being that you are insulin resistant? Wouldn't it do the same thing that regular sugar would do?
hahha.. fugget the RESISTENCE... Until recently, my official diagnosis was Uncontrolled Type II DM.. A1c went between 9.5 and 12.
I've been checking a few times a day.. granted, I'm not as diligent as I used to be, but I don't worry about hitting 300's anymore. The highest I hit lately was 123 post prandial. I wake up fairly "normal" for a person who was so bad. NOooo.. I don't think I'll ever get down to 70 - 90, but waking with a 117 is a hell of a lot better than a 350. I just checked.. just for sh*ts and giggles and it's 111 and I'm having coffee w/sugar free french vanilla in it right now.
I don't think I reacted to the zero at ALL. I had a more adverse reaction to zucchini! I've been pretty darned strict with myself other than a couple of alcohol indiscretions in December, and that one I told you about the day I ditched the gym. :-x (and I was still careful to hit the no carb stuff for the most part), but I WAS craving a coke badly. If Neecee didn't suggest that zero, I might have had 56 grams of sugar in a coke... and once I'm on it, I get addicted.
All in all.. I'm really not seeing anything that would be detrimental in my diet.. although I'm trying very hard to blame it.
I'm gonna take a step back and say it's fluid. Afterall, I was nursing an injury with a hell of a lot of soma, and I've hit on the relaphlen for the last 2 days to try and get pain relief. 10 lbs in a couple of days.. that's just.. it's gotta be the pills. I blow up with vicodin as well... so I'm really careful with 'em.
