Okay, so I met with my shrink yesterday...
lol! Thats a great opener, right? lmao!
Anyway, I've been seeing her since my first pregnancy 7 years ago. I suffer from manic-depression.
In addition to her "normal" or should I say, usual patients, she also does consults for one of the leading bariatric surgeons in my area. I guess she evaluates the patients before and after surgery.
Anyway, over the years we've worked on other areas that I was having problems with....but could never address the weight issue. I always had an excuse as to why to put off dealing with it. When I told her last month that I was ready & this was it, she was happy, but told me not to get too caught up (I guess worrying because I said this was it, now or never & she was afraid of my failing & then spiraling into a depression). Anyway, she looked over my charts and graphs and food journal that I've been keeping since 1-11 & she was sooo excited for me. Even hugged me 3 times-lol!
It was a great session! We had a good talk. She actually disagreed with some of the goals (for protein and carbs and calories), that the nutritionist had proposed the day before. Since she
knows a great deal about weight loss, I'm going to take her advice & keep my levels just where they are.
I'm down another pound today...I hit 329!!! I'm in the 320's!!! I'm ecstatic!!! Total weight loss so far is now 23lbs.
Plus, Fridays for lunch is my "splurge-eat-what-I-want-but-in-moderation" day; and I have no cravings! Not in the mood for chicken wings or Cracker Barrels Friday Fish Fry; not in the mood for a donut. Not in the mood or craving anything! Astounding since before this diet, I had cravings all of the time!!!

That's awesome Lisa!!
Friday's are my eat out/what I want for one meal days too. The wife and I plan to go out to eat tonight. Not sure where we're going. I just had a turkey ham sandwich, a lo-fat broccoli and cheese thing, and a 1/2 banana. Not really even thinking about dinner but I'm sure I'll be hungry when it comes around. It's a great idea to reserve one day or one meal a week for whatever you want!

I know I could not WAIT to read this post with that title...LOL
Yes, yes, yes...your shrink has it so right...so often fat peeps fail because they set lofty goals that no one could ever maintain for life, then get all down and stop whatever they were doing. Depression tendencies aside, even. Certainly, many of us may have depression issues, one way displayed is by over eating.
Good for you to get help - man, it's pull all stops here...if meds and/or counseling help you along this way, good for you. Manic depression is a whole nuther thing, I know.
That's what I like about your approach so far...it is nothing that you cannot do long term, for as long as you live. When we step off, we climb back on, too. Part of trying to be a healthy person who chooses healthy behaviors.
