Somebody STOP me!
I gotta beg to differ with ya here, sweetie. Calories DO count. Just because one eats a lot of protein and fats doesn't mean they can overeat. The idea behind Atkins is that one is satiated and remains satiated on LESS food.. which really does translate to lower caloric intake.
Atkins says "Eat freely".. which means "until satisfied" as you stated above. I'm talking about eating PAST satiation.. which is what I've been doing for 2 days. Not eating cause I'm hungry.. but eating because I'm hurting. For the life of me I don't know why either. It's not like there's a vicodin hidden in that extra piece of chicken. It's just so hard to get started again after a break. I worked out Tuesday and Wednesday anyway.. but worked chest, arms and legs and was hoping by today I could work my back. Instead, now my shoulders and arms have it too. I screwed up. I just don't want to lose ground.. yanno? It's 11:00am and I'm guessing I already had 800 calories.... so I gotta try to stay conscious. Peshaw..
Hey Lori...wow, that package sure did do a number on ya. Sounds like the two of you got into a fight and you got your butt whooped! It sounds like you aren't planning on letting it get you down for long, though, so I wish you a fast recovery.
I see you are having some issues with calories and Atkins. I used Atkins to lose a hundred a seventeen pounds, so I may not be an expert, but I didn't get here by not learning something a long the way. I've never read anywhere in the Atkins books or online to count calories. I ain't nevva counted a calorie yet on Atkins. I consider that the closest thing I have to a 'tool' that I can work! The restrictions on Atkins are on carbs, not pure protein. Protein is a 'free food' because is does nothing to raise your blood sugar level, which is the main objective of Atkins. Elevated blood sugar levels release insulin, which turns to fat, so the carbs are what need to be monitored, not calories. The actual principle of feeling satiated is not on less calories, but to feel full on lean protein, like chicken, pork and beef, turkey, and eggs, which in turn keeps blood sugar low, so therefore, no cravings. The online site actually recommends that if you are not losing, you can lower your carb intake for a few days and eat protein at will to jumpstart your fat burning again. So I say that you should be eating that protein right now because that is what your muscles will need for healing. And take a good carb free vitamin B complex supplement to convert that protein to energy for faster healing. Geeze Girl, I don't know that ANYONE wouldn't have a hard time staying on Atkins if you had to restrict calories. When I'm hungry, I eat like a horse. But I make sure that my carbs are saved for enjoyment. I'm addicted to a great salad once a day! So eat Sweetie...you're body needs it for healing, Mary
I would have never thought of that in a million years. WOW.. I doubt it.. but it's definitely something for me to investigate. I know the salami did my back in, but my left shoulder is something else. No no.. can't be it.. my hips and thigh started screamed before I even got back from Florida.. I think it's a fibromyalgia attack to be honest. The back.. no.. I felt it when I did that.. but right now the only thing on me which doesn't hurt is my hair.
