Proud of myself tonight.....

Have been in KY for a couple of weeks...my son and his wife had a new baby, so haven't been on these boards. Well, tonight was my first night of water aerobics.  I have been doing NO exercise, due to my knees and signed up for this a few weeks ago.  I did not want to go tonight....worried about being in a bathing suit in front of a bunch of strangers.  My weight is bad enough, but these varicose veins are horrendous!  Well, almost chickened out, but went anyway.  Yes, I was the biggest one there, but felt really good about it and enjoyed the class and the workout.  Haven't moved this body in ages and need to badly.  It was envigorating and I felt good about myself afterward.  It's only twice a week, through community education, but hoping to join the Y again in May and do more.  I think I will start feeling better about myself with the added activity and hopefully see the weight come off a little more quickly too.

Um, I don't go into public b/c i think I look good in a swim suit - this is for me! C'mon...event he meanest of the mean must admit that being in an exercise class is a step in the right direction! Terrible that our society has become so judgmental (on both sides, actually) and that somehow all of us, fat or thin, think gyms and exercise classes are only for thin people!  You made a really big step tonight. Good for you!

Sherrie, Don't you just love water aerobics?! I went twice a week for 3 years (and should go back).  I made a lot of friends and we laughed and had fun.  The hour flew by (most of the time). I actually sweat in the water!!!   Congrats!  Keep up the good work. And don't worry about what you look like.  I promise you, the others are more worried about how THEY look than how YOU look. Bren

Good for you! Water aerobics is a great way to start up a routine I think, plus it's fun! I have two days to decide if I'm going to rejoin our gym. Well, it's just because I want to get a free ipod if I join on Thursday.ha But anyways, they just changed their pool not long ago to a non chlorine pool so I'm ecstatic! That was the whole reason why I dropped my membership a few years ago. I became allergic to something in their water. I swear I'm half fish! Have fun and splash a little for me!!!! :)

Congrats on the new arrival too! Oh what fun, gotta love those little bundles of joy!!

Congrats on BOTH accounts! New grandbaby as well as your going to the pool! I have never learned to swim... silly hey? Here I am almost FIFTY- and cannot swim! So I've never been in a pool! (it helps to live in Alaska where we have NO outdoor pools LOL)  But I have a good friend who had LB in June... she goes to a community pool and LOVES it! She has been doing so well! Said it's VERY good on the knees! Keep up the good work... and snuggle that new baby! They just don;t stay newborn long enough! (who can resist the smell of a newborn baby??!!) CONGRATS again!!
