Sorry if there is already a thread on this, I can't seem to find a search function for this message board:-( I'm wondering what type of scale do you have, that is accurate for larger people?  Also, should I be checking my body mass & anything else?  How do I do that?  I saw scales for that but I don't understand how they work?  How do people check muscle mass?  I'm kind of confused on the finer points.  Thanks! I swear by the Tanita Ironman.  Does weight, bodyfat, BMR, bone, muscle, water, visceral fat, metabolic age.  Cost 125 but is the most accurate scale I've ever owned.  And seeing successes show up like increased muscle, lost lbs and lower visceral (stomach) fat, is very motivating.  Got mine online with free shipping.

Can you look on the bottom and get me a model number?  Or a link to one like yours?  Apparently there are several models of ironman.  Thanks! Lisa

Jersey- I have been looking for a good scale too..hate to pay over 100 but then to a extent i know you pay for what you get.. I went to the site that you gave and read on it.and it says that it even shows dehydration on it..it shows how hydrated you are..have you used this feature?

I resisted paying this much too, but how many times did I spend 50 bucks on a scale only to have it go wonky on me?  Ended up being the same brand my gym uses for a professional scale.  And between my gym and doctor's, there's only minor variations.  With my cheap scales I was often less at home and about 8lbs more at their sites which was very disheartening. I do use the water weight feature, so I know when I'm holding an extra pound or two of water.  I log all my stats in my fitday so I have a general read on the overall trend in changes.

THanks!  Here is a link for reviews at Amazon (cuz there is only 1 at the drugstore.com http://www.amazon.com/Tanita-BC554-Ironman-InnerScan-Composi tion/dp/B0007ZH18M Here is another one I've also been looking at: http://www.amazon.com/LifeSource-UC-321-Precision-Personal-H ealth/dp/B000B688P2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1202268769& sr=1-1 The lifesource one calculates BMI & weight.  Is bmi the same thing as measuring body fat? I'm confused about what I should be measuring? I also saw this & dh wants it just cuz it looks cool...yes, he's a tech freak-lol! http://www.amazon.com/Omron-HBF-306C-Fat-Loss-Monitor/dp/B00 0FYZMYK/ref=pd_sbs_hpc_title_45 Lisa

Hi. I don't have a scale right now but this thread got me looking. I was just looking on ebay and there are alot of nice scales for really reasonable prices. It might be worth the look. Beth
