The elliptical is IN!
But since dh works for the shipping company... he'll bring it home after work :( Arg!! But it IS HERE!!!! I am so darned excited!
Do these give ARMS a workout to? It looks like it but from a personal stand point... what do you think?? I am just flippin EXCITED!!!
Dh said he was going to set it up over near the entrance from the deck... in our room... so he can workout every morning. So that is fine- but I want it right in front of my TRU-TV .. So when HE hogs the TV with sci-fi stuff every eve... I can go in my room and workout as I watch my all SO IMPORTANT... COURT CASES!
Hey ChunkyMama...I'm so happy for you that you are going to get a piece of the outside world way out yonder.
Now here's a little heads up. It's not like mindlessly walking on the treadmill. You have to actually pay attention and get your head in the game! By the time you keep your pace up and check your heart rate and your pulse, your going to be a little busy until you get used to it. And don't forget checking the time every twenty seconds. I'm constantly thinking...surely this timer can't be working...I've been on here waaaaay longer than that!
I've only been on mine for ten days now. My problem is that I'm only 5'3, so for me to do ten minutes is twice the work of someone else, and my legs are in great shape, so I was surprised how hard I was struggling. My inner knees were shaking. Russ said to do my lower body work after, so that helped a lot.
As for the arm workout, I would say it's not that much, unless you have no tone in your arms at all. I had just upped the weights on my upper body workouts, so by the time I get to the elliptical, I have no feeling in my arms! Well, I do, but nothing that the elliptical does anything for.
You're gonna love it. It's a great addition to your workout, and it's great for fat burning AND lower muscle tone.

I don't have time to read all posts, so I'm not sure if you've used an elliptical before. Great workout and if it has arms it's a total workout and will burn more calories. Thing to strive for here eventually is speed, that's where your calories will go. Many people do an elliptical in a casual way and they're not maximizing their results. Also, if you're new to it you may try manual at first, but work toward interval training.
