Yesterday was "D" day!

Alrighty then...  I saw my doc yesterday for the first time in 6 months and it was great to get such kudos from him after YEARS of him shaking his head at me. We got down to the "meds" portion of the visit.  He asked "how much Novolog and Lantus are you up to a day".  I laughed and said "I haven't taken any insulin since October 1".  He started fumbling through the papers and I blurted in "6.7... my a1c was 6.7 if that's what you're looking for "..  He said "but when... 6 months ago.."  "NO", I said and explained that his nurse sent me the blood study order and I had it done in SC about a week and a half ago.   He questioned me in detail about how I've lost so much weight in such a short period of time and I explained that I felt it made no sense for someone who's insulin resistent to be taking so much insulin, so I stopped taking it and by the same token, stopped eating anything which would cause an insulin response...  even though it's supposedly "good" for me...and I melted! The exercise is really helping my lungs I think cause he said they sound better.  Ok, so my bp was 162/82 in triage.. so he checked it again and it was 140/80 which is REALLY weird for me... but I'm chalking  it up to listening to Bowie on the IPOD in the waitiing room.. yanno Bowie gets the blood pumpin'. Ok then.. tiime to pack up the laptop and get out of this hotel and head back to my heaven in the woods! Lori

Neecee.. you changed your avatar?  Is that a 20 year younger version?  You look like a teen in that one! Yes.. a non-scale victory.. according to the scale I'm FUBAR.  My scale at home says 235 and change and his said 237.  Ok.. I'm going with mine.. but I was finally down to 232.. so I'm not feeling so special tonight.. yanno.

Awww!! Don't feel bad. Surely it was travel weight.  I'm pretty sure you'll be knocking those few pounds out in no time.

I'd be happy to attribute it to "travel weight", if I knew that such a thing existed.. except for gaining weight when you pig out while traveling!

It's a proven fact babe! Everyone gains weight when they travel long distance!  Some blame it on the junk food but me.... I think it's the exhaust fumes. Anything more than 3 hours starts putting on 1 lb every 1 - 2 hours.

And how many hours is your doc from your house?  About 8-10 right?  Adds up doesn't it.  :D
