teenfatty
Hey, i was thinking more about you. For one thing, please consider changing your handle. Not a pretty name, you are worthy and gorgeous. Time to start loving you. Are you going to work real hard for someone you don't love? I vote...teenangel!
Anyhooo... the other angle is, make sure you read your parent's recipes or labels of foods in your house. Learn what 3/4 c cereal (one serving) looks like in your bowls at the house. measure out 1/2 c milk, or rice.
One way to visually measure:
your fist is two servings of rice/pasta/noodles
one meat serving is about the size of your palm
an ounce of cheese is about the size of your thumb (NOT down to your wrist, silly!)
a teaspoon of dressing - about as big as the tip of your index finger.
Read labels for breads. Roughly, 15g of carbs = 1 serving. Many single pieces of bread/rolls are more like 57g! do the math...almost 4 servings of bread!
You should be able to eat about 6 servings of grains (breads, rice, pastas) daily and still lose...just try to read about them and see how much you are really eating and go from there.
Most of all, i don't think I said this to you: please eat regularly...do not skip meals, in fact eat smaller, but frequent meals. Make sandwiches with one piece of bread, but use the same amount of meat, add fresh fruit, a cup of milk, you should feel okay for at least a couple hours! veggies alla time, as much as you want!
Snacks should be:
string cheese + small apple
boiled egg + 2-3 crackers
1/2 pb sandwich
hard cheese 1 ounce + celery as much as you want
cottage cheese+ 27 tortilla chips + 1/4 c salsa
Hope this helps more than my first post.
I was thinking more about her too. I hope she comes back and posts again. I would love to help her along her journey. Can you imagine getting your weight and eating under control at 17? Oh how exciting to be able to enjoy your 20's, 30's, heck the rest of your life as a fit person? Wow, I would so love to help achieve that goal! I wish I had found this site when I was 17 or had found some kind of help at 17. It's never too late for anyone though. I'm only 28 now and if I get this under control I'll be able to enjoy my 30s as a fit person!!
Yeah I know right!? Going out to eat with friends can be so tough! I have some friends who go as far as to belittle me for my healthy choices. What kinda crap is that!?
The best thing you can do is to do your best. If you goof up, so what, all is not lost. Shhh, don't tell anyone but, I had a butterfinger yesterday! Heheheh! You gotta treat yourself every now and again. It's when the old habits start creeping back in on a daily basis that you need to start worrying about. I think it's awesome that you've decided to change your life so young. It's definitely an achievable goal!
Do you have insurance? I encourage you to go and see a nutritionist if it will cover it. If nothing else go see your doctor and have him help you with your goals. Might also want to have him run blood tests on your to check your cholesterol and your thyroid. Ya never know, there might be a medical condition that makes losing weight difficult for you. Going to see the nutritionist was a really neat experience for me and I learned a whole lot. Plus there's something about being put on a plan from an actual doctor who knows what they're talking about!
Best of luck to you and keep posting! This place has changed many lives.
