so more fat tv on TLC tonight called "My Shocking Story: Too Young to be so Fat" first story - large 16 year old boy, he is going to Academy of the Sierras - the new boarding school for fat kids. good job. next story - 300+ lb THIRTEEN year old girl is having liposuction with self-proclaimed "biggest fat sucker in Texas" as her LAST resort for weight loss since she "has tried everything." and refuses to eat salad. its so sad. the girl is like i know i'll die in a few years if i don't have this lipo. they show her meeting with Brooke Bates - the 12 year old who had a ton of lipo with the same guy (later started gaining back and ended up at 14 going to mexico for lapband). they both talk about how being fat is gross and they eat emotionally.  wow. i'm depressed. OMG! and now she just said how she will also have a tummy tuck when she gets through with the surgery!! what is the world coming to??? and now they are showing her eating friend chicken and macaroni and cheese. wow. i seriously need to just turn this off and go to bed.

I had this on too. My stomach was slowly creeping up the entire time and I almost yacked it out. I was proud of the older boy. My heart broke for the girl -- at 13, how can you really blame her for anything, right? -- but I wanted to kill her mother. Sad times we live in, dude. SAD TIMES.

I forgot to add my going-to-hell thought of the day: Brooke Bates' parents are going to be real thrilled when she gains weight in strange places where the fat cells weren't sucked out and ends up looking like a fat, beat-up octopus. THINKING IT IS OK FOR YOUR TEEN TO HAVE LIPOSUCTION IS BEYOND ME.

The part that got me the most infuriated with the mother of the young girl was how they went on "vacation"  and the Mom left her daughter to fend for herself the whole time while she was out gambling.   The girl ended up not having the surgery - which was a relief, I figured they would have some follow up saying she had managed to loose weight on her own.  What was the whole point of even showing her story? The boy did a great job, but how many kids can afford a place like the one he went to?   The show didn't have much relevance for teens that have to find a realistic way to deal with to their obesity.

I saw this too! I'm watching the dwarfed young lady now. Touching night on TLC. What I thought was insane was they were going to take out 80lbs of fat via lipo off her.. WTF!!! That medically has to be unhealthy... If I was a doc, I would be scared as **** to do  an operation like that on someone so young.. Luckily yes luckily.. she had hemo issues.. I think if he would have proceeded, it would have been unfavorable. -Bud

I thought that most responsible docs only took out an amount far less than that! That is horrifying.  And yes, she will grow one of these days. wow. I think adult children can sue their parents for torture in most states, right? I mean even a civil suit would be right on here. wow

I don'****ch these kind of shows because they try to make fat people look ignorant and weak. These poor people need help and all these motherf$&@ers are doing is trying to make a buck off of their misery. I say FU Mr. TV Producer and then @$^*(%# network you rode in on!  What about this show was educational to anyone?? ****** ME OFF! Okay.. Callllmm now.. Callllmn now...  I'll stick to my science fiction and violent action.

This particular show was not educational, OR inspiring.  The featured girl had a clueless mother, and a questionable Dr, and the boy was sent to a boarding school for  wealthy, obese kids. basically the show was mindless fluff

I totally agree that many of these shows exploit obese people -- the show that drives me the most crazy is The Biggest Loser. These people are in such need of help -- they go on the show, they get some knowledge of diet & exercise & then BAM! At the end of the show they kick someone off -- someone who is in such need of help --- it's like, "well honey, you need help, but you can't run across the balance beam fast enough in the challenges, bub-bye". Poor people. Totally ****** me off -- I think -- hey, if you want to help people - help them - don't kick people off -- HELP ALL OF THEM.

I agree!  I know that if I watched the shows I'd feel compelled to write letters to the producer and the network.  Hell I might even be prone to picket them! lol
