I started to write something but feel this addresses a lot of points more succinctly.

Here's irony for you--I was talking with a trainer (she is 5'2" 138lbs of muscle, size 2 and yes, gorgeous) and she eats 3000 calories a day. She and I do about the same amount of training. She eats much as I do, enjoys proteins and veggies a plenty. But she has not insulin issues and is not obese, so her body is at a stage it can handle higher carbs in the morning. I'm not. Yet. She commented about all that the above link does and believes all the myths. But she's never been obese (and doesn't specialize in them). I think she's just not understanding what it's about.
I've done a ton of low carb research. There's a reason it works. It is a WOE, to be sure, but eventually toward maintenance you're able to achieve that healthier variety of intake. And in the meantime, it works.
I'm actually about to change my low carb to Atkins myself, just to see if it works a little faster. (I do much of it now, but with a Challenge at the gym, and more research under my belt, I want to Fast Forward myself, you know?) And I wanted something with a little direction for my day.
I will say, I think it's imperative to follow the diet to a T. The problem and misinterpretation with Atkins comes when folks draw conclusions without knowing what the diet really is about.
Hope this helps.
Chris, if you want an Atkins buddy, PM me. We can do this together. Get teh book, but here's an overview:
