Anxiety about eating out

So I've been doing so great for 2 weeks TODAY!  And of course, tonight we are going out to dinner for my brother's birthday!  This is the first time in the 2 weeks that I have been faced with not knowing what to order to be good.  I mean I think I know in general what is going to be better than other choices of course, but how do I know how they cook it?  It's one of my favorite restaurants so at least I kind of know what some of their menu items are.  I think I am going to order grilled salmon and maybe get some steamed broccoli and a salad....just ask for the dressing on the side....other than that, I am not sure what else I feel comfortable getting that I would know was cooked o.k..... Does eating out cause anxiety for anyone else?  Heck I'm not even following a STRICT program (IMO) but I want to be good....I've been thihking about it for 3 days now and that's the best I have come up with.....

If it's a popular or a chain restaurant you can probably go online and find their nutrition facts.  It will be accurate within about 20 -30 calories.  Also, www.thedailyplate.com has a large selection of popular menu items from various restaurants. Perhaps you can find it there.  That way you can make your decision ahead of time and not be swayed by the pictures! :P  Eating out doesn't really cause much anxiety for me. I generally know what's going to be better choices and don't worry about how they cook it.  Once you get it you can pretty much tell if they cooked it in butter or oil. More and more restaurants are providing 'slim' choices on their menus so I typically go for those.

If I cant find the resturant's nutrition info online I just order grilled chicken and steamed broccoli - no sauces and call it good....  better safe than sorry!

I haven't found this restaurant on the regular places -- that is what bothered me..... I was thinking the grilled chicken thing too until I remembered they serve grilled salmon and I LOVE it (no sauces on it) -- but then it's served on a bed of rice pilaf type stuff - heck if I know how they cook that!  It doesn't seem buttery or oily but who knows! OK so fish or chicken (grilled) and some steamed veggies

just ask them to leave the rice off - they wont mind a bit.... in my experience this usually gets you extra veg too as the cook wants the plate to look full even without the rice.  Be extra kind to your server and you will get exactly what you need

OK so I think I did o.k. Blackened salmon with lots of lemon wedges (I like lemon juice on fish) Broccoli florets steamed A side salad with extra carrots, tomatoes, no cheese, dressing on the side And of course, the parents had a birthday PIE at home afterwards -- cherry to be exact -- I chose to eat cantaloupe when I got back home instead
