The blog......
Christa, et all...changing what we prefer to eat or at least putting those foods into perspective in our diet is not easy, but possible!
I used to feel just as out of control, it sucks, it really does. However, at some point, I realized, I have to walk away ...the food cannot. It is MY perception, my choice, food is not the enemy.
Very easy to type that right here. Much harder to find our way. When I preach, I preach balance, especially eating fruits/veggies! My palate has changed dramatically.
Of course, there are times when I indulge, but more times, I only take a bite or two, then get back on my plan...eat my apple while others eat pie, or sip a hot protein drink.
I, as well, as you all, don't give ourselves enough credit when we "win" like that - the "prize" is not readily visible, which is the real problem, right?
And we cannot go where it is slippery for a while. I know of no other way but to remove the offending food, in your case breads, sweets, for a while, then teach yourself HOW to enjoy them.
For me, it is chips. AFTER months of having zero servings of them, my goal with them is to NEVER eat them solely if I am starving - the rule is only with a sandwich half or one taco. For you, perhaps the rule is, a planned sweet one serving or less with your meals only...never, ever, alone.
It's hard, but possible...believe, Christa!
