What about hunger?
"Am I Tired?" I'm glad you brought this up. For years I would get up in the middle of the night and simply HAVE to eat something in order to get back to sleep. When I was in my late 20's, I remember reading something which suggested that when we are tired, our bodies crave carbohydrates. This translated to pure sugar for me in the middle of the night.. a cookie, a piece of cake, a spoonful of ice cream.. anything sweet. I rarely slept well and so I began keeping healthier alternatives readily available for those middle of the night "snack attacks". Even though my sleep is still somewhat disturbed all night long, I find I am not craving anything but fluids in the last 4 months or so. I'm only guessing here, but I wonder if having a more fatty meal in the evening (instead of the low caI/low fat fare I WAS doing) is keeping me from feeling that empty sensation all night long? I have to remember that.... HALT. The ALT in that probably covers 70% of my eating habits!
