Feel like I am starving!!!

I personally think fit goes hand in  hand with weight loss.  It boost the self esteem, which is important.  It boosts the metabolism, and it prevents or limits the need for costly surgery. My trainer lost 180lbs and you'd never know it.  When asked how, he said he built up first and then whittled down.  So far for me, I'm finding the same.   But I am also biased on this because I don't believe losing weight is just about getting the lbs off, it's about being your healthiest (from food to activities and abilities).  I'd rather increase my bone density from weight lifting and stave off osteoporosis.  I'd rather have a healthy metabolism.  The weight loss just comes along with the fitness.

I think being desperate to lose the weight can make you make the wrong, least healthy decisions....

That's your thoughts tho. So everyone does their own thing. I'll do it my way....you do it yours. I'm pretty sure I will be on this board for a very long time....so I guess we'll see my results and see that my way FOR ME works as well.

Sure, everyone has a right to consider and evaluate options.  Some options are healthier, better and longer lasting than others though and I will always suggest the healthiest option for long term success.

I will add I have a bias on walking.  I always walked a lot--miles a day.  Never helped me lose weight.  I think if a person was previously inactive or relying heavily on diet ( or it's all they're capable of it's a start and it's something, just not in the book of best practices.

But you're not the same as the next person, just because walking didn't help you lose weight doesn't mean it won't work for the other.  I have walked to lose weight before I never kept up with it but when I was younger hmm 150 pounds in great shape I use to walk every night I was an athlete still have athlete in me. I would bounce back and forth from 140 - 150 when I was walking I would lose and what not. And when I became heavier I walked from 230 to 210. But stopped because I gave up. But I was always active.  So it can work, maybe not for you but for the next person.

That's all good and dandy, but my attitude is to focus on what works for all and address the limitations of some things.  I'd rather a person reading this be fully informed than make a choice for themself that will be ineffective or not deliver on their goals.

But you don't know that your way will work for ALL. Just because it worked for your trainer and whoever else does not mean it will work for the WHOLE world because if it did.....everyone would be thin.

Ur kidding me, right?  Healthy intake and exercise do work for all.  Building the body first to lose will work for all.  This is an absolute given.... Everyone would be thin if they did this, without a doubt, unless they suffer a disease like Cushing's or Thyroid (though even that is manageable).   The problem is this is not promoted as heavily as eat less and move a little.  Why?  Cuz some people don't want to work hard or be truly fit, they just want to lose weight (shame).

Well obviously diet and exercise works. But you don't have to go to the gym 6 days a week for hours a day.  And it is promoted everywhere...diet and exercise that is all you hear about. But some people can't and they look to WLS. And then it helps them. Ok what about compulsive over eaters? They can not control what they eat at all but exercise all the time then what? Oh just tell them oh just eat healthy BLAH guess what it isn't that easy. So for some it won't work.  Being a compulsive over eater myself...what I am doing is helping me like no other. For me not to binge in 3 weeks is a miracle..for me not to buy fast food in over 2 weeks is a miracle.

Who said they should go 6 days a week?  4-5 is all that's necessary.  An hour a day.  I go superheavy--that's just me....
