Question about drink during a meal
I have been told that you aren't suppose to drink with your meal. That you should drink after you are finished eating. Does anyone know if this is true or not true?
The reason being...something about how it actually slows down the way that the food is digested...
Also, I heard that the water shouldn't be cold..its better to be like room temperature.
Baloney about when to drink water--only applies IMU to WLS patients. If you're stomach hasn't been altered, water is filling and helpful. Re: temp of water--cold actually does require the body to react to it, so cold water, not tepid, as I've heard it. But really, none of this is majorly consequential. Eat healthy and drink lots of water....

I say drink it whenever. I have read but never tried....that drinking a glass of water a half an hour before eating and a half an hour after keeps you full but eh..never tried. And that drinking colder water will make your body burn a few calories because the body has to keep you warm and since the cold water has entered you it has to work to warm it back up....but just drink lots of water cold, room temp its water. Eh...
It's true that it has no science based argument against it. Temperature matters for nothing, I personally dislike cold water, some exceptions.
BUTT, having said that, while researching WLS, it is important not to drink during meals so that your pouch aka your smaller stomach doesnot wash out the food and you eat more. Regardless, I tried that...no drinking, or very little with meals. It does feel like I get more full quickly.
Years ago, the Hollywood diet also cautioned against meals with drinks. That was one way of eating that worked for me, again, not much science behind it, but argue with results. For those who care, it was have only fruits & veggies til noon, then meals of high protein foods with high water veggies, carbs with fats, never at the same meal. I stayed on it for a year...lost 25# painlessly. The minute I stopped, though....gainsville.
