I was watching one of the shows featuring Dr. Oz called, "The Truth About Food".  They did a study on different things.  See how you do: 1.  Put in order - Which of the following left you feeling full for a longer period?      A. The high carb meal     B. The high fat meal       C. The high protein meal              Answer:  High protein, high carb and then high fat. 2.  About 8 people with blood pressure issues went on a diet for 12 days eating only fruits and       vegetables.  How many of them had their blood pressure return to normal readings?  One guy also had insulin problems, did his insulin level return to normal?              Answer:   All of them had blood pressure normal  and insulin normal too. 3.  Did adding 3 cloves of garlic a day to your diet really do anything for men with erection problems?                Answer:  Yes it did help.  4.  Does eating more fruits and vegetable have that much of an impact on bowel movements?               Answer:   Most definitely I will provide the answers later today.  Anyone who saw the show obviously can't respond.               Overall we didn't do too well.  I would not have gotten them all right either. SHARI, WOULD YOU HAVE GOTTEN THEM RIGHT IF YOU HADN'T SEEN THE SHOW?  Brenda

On your answer to #1 you need to put the other two down in order.  I probably didn't word it the best. Brenda

I saw the show-- wasn't it great?

You missed one that I thought was UNBELIEVBLE--- that Swedish study where they had people eat a diet for a week , and the next week had a diet of the same fat, carbs and protein but added dairy products (lots of yogurt)-- and they excreted TWICE the amount of fat in their waste! TWICE! The theory is that calcium in milk products binds with fat and pushes it through your system relatively undigested (I can vouch for this-- leaves slime in the toilet, not unlike Alli does.) So drink your milk! Skim milk and lowfat products work too!

Yeah, I forgot about that.  That truly surprised me.  I thought it was the dairy people trying to get you to buy their product.  Do you think they consider 2% milk rather than skim a lowfat dairy?  I know it's lower than whole.  I don't mind using skim mixed with something, but I don't care to drink it by itself.

2% milk is DEFINITELY low-fat! And don't forget about cheese, yogurt, puddings, butter and ice cream! ;)

Hi brenda...after I took a REAL Science of Human Nutrition course, i realized that dairy foods are vital.  There have been many bad reports, from growth hormone scares to increased mucus from dairy...all scientifically unfounded.  NOTHING assimilates calcium and other vital nutirents like milk in our human body. It is animal, therfore chemically like us.
