is it just me, or does everyone fluctuate like i do? it drives me absolutely nuts!! i thought i was gonna get by this time without doing it too because i went several days holding at my lowest weight so far. then bam! goes up 2lbs next day and 2lbs more the next! every month this happens to me. (and it's not THAT time of the month yet!) i will finally hit a new low, and then spend anywhere from 2-4 weeks fluctuating within about 2-5lbs of that low before i'll finally hit a loss again.

I'm going to try to post my weight log on my blog to give you a sense of my fluctuations.  THis is why my trainer doesn't want me weighing myself.  Fluctuations are mostly normal but terrible on the psyche.

it doesn't upset me anymore because i expect it now. it's set itself up as a pattern so that i know that eventually i'll hit a new low again. i just don't LIKE it! hehe i would rather see more downward movement and less fluctuating!

Yeah, it happens to me too.  I'm one weight one day, then 2 pounds fatter the next, for no damn reason.  Drives me to drink!

I do that to! I will bounce actually 4 pounds sometimes and I'm not sure what I've done to cause it. But what I've noticed is that I'll bounce like say 192 to 196. It will go on for several days. Then I'll notice I see 191... and I'll bounce up to 195 & back down. It seems to go on that way- until finally I realize that I no longer see the 196.  I still BOUNCE up & down, but the numbers are one or more digits lower as I go.     I *hate* to see them go UP.... but an starting to see the pattern as well so it's less hurtful :) The other day I was 191... today I was 194. ICK!  But I have changed my WI day to Wednesdays due to the harder weekends. So I'm just drinking all my water and trying to drp those few extras before my WI on Wed! That's what I've done the whole last month or two. As long as it GOES though... I don't care HOW much it teases me :)

it's crazy, allright.  me too. I have finally gotten off my back about it. It is just the way my body is.  I try to get scientific about it, try to remember that it is a snapshot in time, not the Gospel.

Yes, it drives me NUTS!

I was reading about this just yesterday.

"Keep in mind what the scale can and can't do. Remember that normal and significant fluctuations can occur through water retention, water loss, glycogen storage, changes in body mass, and the normal ebb and flow of fluids."

Full article talks about 'the scale':

If I had plotted my daily weight the whole time I lost my weight the trend would have looked more like a slowly downward progressing heartbeat! It still does... often I go up, down, up down.. then the up is slightly lower... then the down is slightly lower.. then gradually I realise I have lost weight.

Oh, and about 'that time of the month'- well I may as well strap a suckling pig to my back before getting on the scales.

I know it can seem discouraging, but let me assure you that I was exactly the same and I lost my weight- fluctuations are normal.
