Anyone have asthma?

I have asthma and I read a study about people who took out dairy, eggs, and wheat out of their diet improved drastically.  I was just wondering if anyone has tried this.   I just started cutting out milk to see if that is one of my triggers, but wow...all three at once!

Talk about a diet plan!

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, no starch diet has a positive outcome with asthma patients from what I've read.  But I can't comment on it beyond my experience, which doesn't include asthma....

It's not without starch, just without wheat.  It doesn't say anything else about other starches.  Hmm, it's an interesting read though and gives hope to some of us who have it.  Maybe I'll give wheat a shot after I do no milk for  a week or two.  I'm destined to figure out what my triggers are.  Lately I've not felt the greatest so I think it's something that I've been doing lately.  Cereal in the morning is one of them, other than that I ahven't drank milk in a while, so we'll see! :)

i don't personally believe that. did you ask your doctor? my asthma went away when i lost weight (i know that probably isn't helpful).

No, I haven't asked my doctor yet.  I just read an article on it.  I've actually seen a few of them.  I sort of understand the milk , but I don't really understand the wheat and eggs.  I can see it only if you are allergic to them,,since allergies are so close with asthma.   But I can't understand how it would be a  trigger.  But I've also read that EVERYTHING can be a trigger, theres so many foods that one article lists.  Think you just have to be careful what you read. :)  Next time I go in to a doctor I'll ask about it.

That's great that your asthma went away.  You know I'm sort of glad that you said that.  I keep thinking that my doctor is wrong, that I don't have it.  Just an inner feeling I have, I know that might sound sort of weird.  But I just can't seem to get much air without my inhaler, so I can't get off my meds.  So that has been one of my thoughts to myself, if I will be able to get off of my meds when I lose my weight.  So I'm glad you said that, it gives me a little hope! :)

I have heard that as well and wondered.  I was just diagnosed with asthma in October and it's been really sucky!  I was also wondering if it would ease with weightloss -- my doctor didn't seem to think it had much to do with it.  I haven't tried cutting anything out to see.  I am curious to see what you find!

Looks like we're in the same boat.  I'll keep you posted on what I find out.  If I have to take away all three at once first, that's going to be hard.  One thing though that I just thought of is it  is different from person to person.  So what triggers I have, you might not have.  So you might just have to give it a shot yourself  I know, stinks eh? hehe

i have asthma. but i've mostly outgrown it since childhood. i only have occasional attacks when i am really sick or am like out in very cold and windy weather. so, i can't really comment on whether cutting those out would help at all. i honestly wouldn't buy into that. unless those ppl had allergies to those things.

It was a study that I was reading.  I am new at all this asthma stuff, just diagnosed while I was really sick last February.  All I can say is I hate it, so I hope I "outgrow" it as well. :)

it seems to me that if you track what you eat you will be able to see what might be triggers based on what happened in the hours prior to an attack. With my son we were able to figure out that a visit from my sister (who smokes) caused issues...  very cold air was a trigger too...

but no food issues that I know of...

he has nearly outgrown it himself...

What I've eaten is here for the world to see
