I'M STUCK AGAIN, NOT LOSING WEIGHT FOR A FEW WEEKS NOW, AND GETTING VERY FRUSTRATED.  IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME, BUT I WISHED I KNEW HOW TO BREAK THROUGH THEM A LITTLE FASTER.  =)

Hey Josh, Change something up.  More exercise, More food as in more protein, more water.  Less carbs perhaps.  Try to break it up by changing something dramatically.  Kick start it.  If not, suck it up and wait it out!!! I guess I can either call mine a plateau or maintenance?  I've been at same weight for 16 months LOL Good luck and keep us informed on how it goes.

Make sure you're getting in 1g protein per your desired bodyweight.  Any less and you'll stall.   If you're going to have starches, only have in the morning before exercise so your body burns it off....

I know, my friend. It gets disheartening. The others have good ideas. I can only add to break up exercise into two or more sets throughout your day, if you can.  Make one intense, the other sessions are to help your body re-set. A short walk after a meal (wait a half hour to let digestion begin well) can do wonders.  More than anything, keep on keepin on.  Your body is being stubborn. My body does this alla time. It rather prefers to be meaty.  Hang in there!!!!!!

The 'latest' research here talks about interval training.  When stuck I have used it to suppliment my regular training.  Be warned, watching the clock is the painful bit! BUT, it was effective for me when I was stuck on a plateau. I never could maintain it for long (like watching TV while I bike...) but I have used the method for a few weeks here and there and it seemed to get my metabolism fired up again.

Anyway, here's the crux of the article:

Researchers at the University of NSW and the Garvan Institute studied 45 overweight women over 15 weeks, putting them through a 20 minute cycling regime in which they sprinted on a stationary bike for eight seconds followed by 12 seconds of cycling lightly.

"They lost three times more weight as other women who exercised at a continuous, regular pace for 40 minutes," UNSW Associate Professor Steve Boutcher said.

Keep your spirits up, it will come soon, maintaining is better than gaining.

Totally agree, Em!  I do sprints every 5 minutes on cardio machine.  And in my sprints its 30 seconds on 30-60 seconds off!  You get amazing results cardiovascularly and with weight loss!
