Today, I had my final follow-up for right knee (Surgery in August '07). He's giving me the go to return back to normal activities 100%. For now I am enjoying eating and laying down after work. :) When the time changes back, I will get back to walking the walk! I swear it gets dark at 3:45. I may do 15 on the treadmill occasionally. Also from compensating for the right knee, I had to see him for the left one before Thanksgiving. It was swelling like hell.  I got an MRI done on it. No tears, it had a lot of wear on the inside part. He told me he would rather take conservative approaches since I am still young.. .me doing my part in continuing the weight loss, prescriptions and that chicken fat shot Donna told me about. We agreed when I start back exercising in the Spring, to come back and he'll discuss what's best at that time. With that said, I'm taking it easy. I will be home for 3 weeks in December, I will be exercising regularly but lightly.... 230 Full steam ahead!!!!!!!

Glad to hear that the knee is doing well and that you are protecting the other!  take care.

What I've eaten is here for the world to see

Have you been visiting us here in Alaska?!? ;)  The kids just got home a half n hour ago and it's already dark.  And one wonders why we all gain weight! Think I'll just move some where else and come back for the summers where it's light 24/7.  Poor kids are so confused!ha

Glad to see your back on track with your knee.  My husband also has knee issues, but he just screams, yells, and complains here at home.  Stays in bed and moans and groans.  Ya know, typical guy stuff.hehe

Seriously tho, take it easy on that knee.   It's the only ones you got!

Does your "happy light" actually work?  I use to know someone that swore by them, but she was into anything like that so I wasn't sure.  I've been tempted to invest  in one if it actually works.  I think there sort of spendy aren't they?  As for the lower 48, ya know every time I go down there I mentally think it's going to be light out until at least midnight.  I get so disappointed that it doesn't.  It just seems wrong it getting dark so early and not cold!

This is the style I have... actually made right here in Alaska :)  They ARE spendy... I think you can get one here for $239 but I was lucky enough to find mine at a garage sale! It was the Presbyterian ministers (wife's) and she had really bad SAD issues while living up here- she used it but they got transferred back to the land of LIGHT..... so they sold it to me for $150 :)  YES... it DOES really work! And actually, some insurance companies will reimburse you for the cost these days! I know the mental health offices use these as well. I just try to use it while reading or whatever. Cause it is GREAT light as well!  http://www.alaskanorthernlights.com/products.html Our lows are around 11 now... it's warming up some- suppose to snow tomorrow. I'll take snow at this point- I hate the COLD! But... last year we had so much snow- recorded at 225 inches for the entire 06/07 season. (that beat a 1971/72 record of 221.6 inches) But our annual average is less than 100! So.... I'd rather stick with RAIN!  :)

Glad to hear your doing the right things for those knees. My hubby had one knee "done" a couple years ago and has to get the time to get the other one done soon. He wakes daily in pain. (I've noticed mine have been feeling a LOT better after getting a bit of my weight off) I hate these early nights! I feel like it just gets light and it's dark again! Ugh! I ned to pull out my "happy light" :) You are doing SOOOO GOOD with your WL!!!!!!  I agree with neecee..... "you DA MAN!!!!"

The only surgery I've ever had was my wisdom teeth and I thought that was scary enough. You are super for handling this as well as you have...and LOSING! Glad you got the official go-ahead. You are a true trooper and a rock star :)

Oh my friend of the knee pain!!!  I'm glad you are going to do the Synvisc injections.  Believe it or not, and I say this with crossed fingers, I think it has worked for me.  Am I pain free? Hell no.  But there is not that intense tightness and swelling and discomfort.  Now there is a lot of cracking and stuff, like it's been well lubricated.  Go figure.  But like you I am far too young to think about any of the intense treatments like knee replacement and the like. I know what you are saying about the other knee issue.  I had my right knee go first and within two weeks of getting the operation the left knee went.  He operated soon after, so the time between surgeries was actually only one month.  Recuperation is hard for this, I hated it and still do. Congrats on maintaining and moving will come with no problem once you start! Donna
