If you had to recommend one good book about weight loss, what would it be?

I hardly ever read, except for diet books which I just browse through.  I've been thinking about reading a book and trying to find one that catches my attention (I need this or my mind just wonders).  Whether it be about weight loss, or the mental state of losing weight.

I'm sure others would love to hear about suggestions too! :)

Although I generally find Dr. Phil a bit annoying...  I really do like his book and it has been very helpful to me.
What I've eaten is here for the world to see
336.1 (8-1-07)/319.0 (12-28-07)/200 (goal for 12-31-08)/160 (goal)
Next mini goal is 290 by 1-31-08

I've read many, and I suggest you read anything you can get - go to the used book store - best bang for the buck. One never knows who will speak to your heart.

Oprah's book with Bob Greene was a great one.  Her body is like mine - hard to let go of weight, easy to put it on. She has to work hard.  Susan Powter, great read...she was heavy in her younger years.  Her book actually was the first one to help me accept my body.  LOVE Pamela Peeke & Christianne Northrup - read all of them, intelligent ladies, very well versed in women's health. I have heard Dr. Peeke speak...wonderful, helpful information.

I would suggest the Atkins Diet New Revolution... I bought it, but I am sure you can check it out from the library. It explains insulin resistance, weight gain, and weight loss very well. I got alot of insight on how the body works regarding those concepts. Carbohydrate's Addict is a good one too! FYI: These books are protein skewed, so if you're looking for a "balanced" type book these are not the ones.

The Beck Diet Solution: Train Your Brain to Think Like a Thin Person  100 Days of Weight Loss: The Secret to Being Successful on Any Diet Plan Both good. Really good. The Beck Diet Solution talks about the behavioral or cognitive aspect of weightloss. The mind part basically. Im not all there, but I have used some of the tools I learned it them. Its the doing it consistently that my old brain is having trouble with.

It will be okay in the end. If it's not okay.... it's not the end!
