Edible gifts...

Let me share my yearly seasonal struggle.

Chocolate Bunny

As a teacher I am often given (and very gratefully receive) end of year thankyou presents. Lots of children give me a box of chocolates.  YUMMY! I ADORE chocolate.

BUT.... goodness the temptation, just when I am battling the seasonal parties too.

   Chocolate Valentine

My usual plan of action is to generously offer them around when friends and family visit, but sadly many end up directly on my thighs!  I often have one a day with a coffee and slowly enjoy them. Oh and my snobby posh strategy is to eat only the quality ones... and save the discount store ones to offer to children who visit!

Belgium Chocolate

What do you do when you receive edible gifts?

I bet this one is a tough one.  I've wondered what teachers do with all the goodies myself.  I know last year on of my childrens teacher gave each child a piece of chocolate for a snack.  But then again, you don't want to fill them up on sugar either! :)  Jeesh, 20 hyper children, lol what a thought!!

I just thought of what you could do.  Exactly what my bariatric doctor told me to do with the food my mom brings over.

THROW IT AWAY!!!!   This won't hurt anyone, and no one needs to know.  And it won't end up on your thighs! :)  After all, it's just the thought that counts.

Lol, and maybe if you want pick a couple of your finest pieces of chocolates for yourself.

And to your offense, good chocolate is WAY better!!  I love good chocolate.

Let's just say "Lord help me" if it says Belgium or truffle on the box... and so far all the ones I have unwapped this year are deliciously tempting... Lindt ones and truffles.. goodness even typing Lindt makes me want to rip the box open and eat one! Deep breaths.... repeat after me 'there is no chocolate"/

 Prayer

Funny you said about throwing them away- I have (feeling a bit guilty.... ) recycled them as hostess gifts, that way the 'love' is shared around at a nice get together with friends.

Em-- I have the same problem...and this year I thought up a solution: I'm having a raffle. I am putting the names of students who have worked hard, been "caught being good" and been good helpers in a box-- and drawing names. Candy and cookies go  to them this year. Last year's solution: I at three pounds of chocolate covered pretzels.

I may need to use that idea next year!  I am off in a few days for my gallbladder operation, so have finished classes for this year.

But... now I am having a good idea thinking about next year- I could keep some for the start of year family welcome morning tea and put some out to offer during 'getting to know you' interviews for individuals.  That would work well.  : )
