Instead of whining...
I'll focus on the positives and accomplishments.
In 17 weeks I've:
lost 22 lbs (give or take my cycle)
lost 14.75"
a size 18 top is loose on me
my size 26 jeans are falling off (but why don't all my 24s fit when I can somehow squeeze into an 18 bottom in some brands?)
I went from a 3x to a 1x with many clothing lines
I don't get winded hiking from the parking garage 4 blocks up hill to the corporate office
I did an abs class and kept up 98% of the time
I did boot camp and kept up 93% of the time
just a few positives to counter my whining thread
Hey! I like this!!! Thank you for reminding ME to do this as well!!! Here is my counter on my whining thread as well :)
"I'll focus on the positives and accomplishments."
In 14 weeks I've:
lost 22 lbs (give or take a couple w/water retention)
a size 3x, 2x tops are now at the thrift store
I am wearing some 14, some 16 & some 18 JEANS- haven't worn ZIP-UP pants in YEARS!
I went from a 3x to a 1x with many clothing lines
I don't get winded walking up hills OR up my stairs! My winter coat- last winter was tight- I never zipped it.. today it is quite loose!
My bones don't ache nearly like they did 3 months ago

There's my girl!!!! That is right. As I have shared with you, my body is so much like yours - made to work very hard and lower weight is NOT a result of that. Our bodies are hyper-efficient, and I am convicned that mine adjusts immediatley to whatever I am doing to conserve caloric burn.
13+ years ago when I started to lift weight regularly, it took 6 MONTHS before EYE could see any thing changed. Nobody else could see it at all...did not lose a freakin inch, but my body sloooooooowwwwly began to respond to the hard drills I was doing. I worked insanely hard for over 12 years no less than 3x week lifting PLUS 5 days a week running or biking.
I keep telling you all, it is so important to de-emphasize the weight loss properties of exercising regularly. The media shows super skinny peeps doing aerobics, so it we harbor this belief that exercise will get us *that* body.
Trainers perpetuate this - mainly because they tend to be young people who have never had a real weight problem - a couple of weeks of salads at lunch, few aeorbic classes and whammo - back in the lil black dress! Only a few know - or admit - that exercise is not THE answer to weight loss. It's only a small component, important, yes, but small.
Uhhhh, i got a newsflash...the girl in the leotard in the video was BORN that way.
The rest of us, most of us in fact, can only focus on the other VERY important properties of regular exercise:
increased energy
elevated immunity
tiny blood vessels created to help take pressure off your heart
improved skin
less depression
body more toned
deeper sleep
better conditioned to do harder work, like weekend hikes or yard detail
and yes, somewhere down this far = help with burning calories!
cells work more efficiently
muscles work more efficiently
bones built
I hope you read me here...there's a lot to this weight loss thing. If working out hard at a gym was the ticket, I for one would not have one ounce of fat on this body. It is far more complex than that.
Anyway...focus on the positive!
