OT: recovering from surgery
For those who know... I had to reschedule my LBL plans for some unplanned surgeries. Which caused me much angst and disappointment.
Anyway, I have just got home from having 1/2 my thyroid out.
THE GOOD NEWS: So far the surgeon thinks the nodule looks benign- I'll find out for sure next Friday.
Had an absolute rotten recovery from anaesthetic (sp) as I had major migraines and heaps of nausea- not to mention sleeping for about 2 days 90% of the time. The dressing is tight and gives me the overall effect of feeling like I am being choked 24/7- which doesn't work too well psychologically as I am a bit of a 'closet claustophobic'.
I have already spoken to my PS office manager about my bad reaction to anaesthtic and she's told me she's just made a note of it and that their guy is excellent and will make sure I don't go through that again in April.
Trying to brave it through. Facing the knife again on Dec 10 for my gallbladder. Arghh.

LET me also add: DON'T weigh yourself after surgery! I went up about ((((( 9lbs ))))) in a few days! no doubt from the drip. But the weird bit is 24 hrs later I have already dropped 6.6lbs of that! go figure. I am not game to even try my wedding rings on yet as I am too puffy. Keeping healthy, eating lots of fruit and protiens and drinking heaps of liquids.
Sorry if there are spelling errors, not quite with it yet.
Wow Patty, you have lost almost exactly what I have!
I am in Australia- and here they part fund alot of surgeries- so for the LBL I end up paying about $12K and the government refunds me the other $8K- which I will immediately put aside for the next round- which is arm lift and a breast lift (no reduction needed... I just look like a pair of deflated balloons), round 3 will be thigh lift and if I decide that a lift isn't enough oomph implants for the gals. Implants are not covered at all- but the rest should be partially funded. I may also decide to have some face work as my face looks a bit drawn with the excess skin making wrinkles from my nose to my mouth. Self pay is hard financially, but it'll be worth it to finish what I started.
Good luck for January- let me give you an excellent link all about breast surgery:

I am at 172 today, down 125 pounds. It is incredible to me that the government would pay for any of this. Here in the US, it is pray for the insurance. I want a reduction and a lift for the girls. I priced out both surgeries with one doctor at 26,000.00! I think the insurance will pay for the upper, but will have to get creative about my tummy. I can't believe that people are telling me I look skinny, but spandex and clothes sure do a lot to cover up the sagging. I too have a few more wrinkles on my face, but will not worry about that yet. After losing all this weight I don't look 52, more like 42. Will keep in touch. Thanks for responding. Patty
