Well I went to the doctors appointment and I officially have a plan, I'm so excited!  I just love this guy, he just seems so easy to talk too, very down to earth type of guy, just what I like. :)  He seems to have the same ideas as I do on pretty much everything.  There is one thing that scares me though, and that it is all prepared foods except for veggies.  I eat every three hours, three times with thier food, twice with tv dinners.  He told me which ones to eat, which ones to avoid.  I like the idea of prepared foods to make it easier on me, but at the same time I hate it.  I know it's not what I'm going to be eating forever so this bugs me.  He said that he will be weaning me off of it onto regular foods, and that is when he will start in with the one on one counceling type of behavior modifications.  I just pray maintenance doing it this way will work.  I already have it in my head that losing is hard, but maintaining is harder so I think I'll be alright.

He also mentioned drugs, if I wanted them.  I told him I would rather not, I want to do this on my own.  Being at this weight I really don't want to take any chances, it scares me.  I'm already going to have a hard enough time switching over to all regular foods when it comes time, I don't need that also.

My calorie intake will be around a 1000 a day.  He said that later on while we wean I will be starting to take more in.  I have mixed emotiosn on that too, but I'll give it a shot and see how it goes.

So that's the scoop!

Hi, Your plan sounds similar to what I'm now doing.  I started a few months ago and use HMR products during the day and then dinner is one serving of lean meat and vegetables.  When my doctor started me I was at 1,000 calories but now I'm at 1,200.  It's a tad bit hard in the beginning, for me I was no doubt eating 2,000+ calories a day and then to drop it down like that, it does take time to adjust. Best of luck to you!

do what works!  one way or another, those calories must come down for a time. Lots of people use south beach meals, prepackaged, what is the difference? If this teaches you about the right portions, that is a good lesson. Try the pills if you need them, especially at first.  Go, Holly!!!!!

Sounds like a pretty good plan. I'd be concerned with the prepared food too, but for another reason... the poor college pocketbook. I'm really happy that you decided to stay away from weight loss drugs. I know they can be tempting, but I personally believe it will feel so much better in the end if you can say you lost the weight all on your own. Not that there's anything wrong with drugs, but I guess I just like doing things the hard way. :P I wish you the best of luck Holly! Keep us up to date on your progress.

Hi...I am actually following a diabetic based diet. I learned how to eat this way from having gestational diabetes and from my dad who has diabetes. (I was diag. with diab. my self 3 weeks ago.) I watch my sugars and carb count. I do not do atkins or south beach per say. I do not freak out about no carbs because you have to eat good carbs.I eat 10-12 carbs perday. Ie. 150 g. or so per day. whi*****ludes atleat 3 meals and 2 snacks and 80-100 ounces of water and 1 cyrstal lite drink in the morning with breakfast. No white bread nothing with flour, nothing really processed. Grilled meats, lunch meats, low fats cheeses, atleast 1 green veggie aday. ( itry atleast 2 aday) no caffeine! I have lost 18.6 pounds in 7 weeks!I can eat out and do often with no problem, and still continue to loose.
