Impatient
Am now at 301.6. I am just itching for the day I reach 299 and can say goodbye to the 3's.
Trainer and I changed my diet as I was only losing .5 lb a week...if that. Bye-bye starches. CU later yam, whole wheat english muffin. I'll miss you sushi..... But in 5 days of no startches I lost 4 lbs, so....it's really what my body needs to break insulin resistant weight loss obstacles.
JerseyGirl2969, You're so close to reaching the 200's. Keep up the good work. And even though it's hard to cut out the starches (I know how great they can be and how bad they can be for you), but maybe once your body cleanses itself you can slowly add those foods back into your diet in moderation. I believe you can make your goals!
Yeah, we will be doing what my trainer calls periodization, no starches for a while, then back, then no starches again, etc.
I believe that my inability to lose weight is closely tied to "insulin resistance".
I just got my blood panel back and while I'm not diabetic, I may be pre-diabetic with a high normal glucose ; (. So, in other words, I got fat due to normal calories and normal starches because of insulin issues and stayed fat because the fat caused insulin resistance. My current theory, anyhow.
I feel you here, jersey. My body is exactly like yours, I fear. We can work hard and not lose much.
I can eat grains and lose, but as you say, very slowly. Most days I consume about 1-3 servings and i mean 1/2 c of rice, 15g grain bread, etc - i have to walk the line.
I agree with your apporach to cut them out for a while, then incorporate back in at some point. It is not likely people will actually stay away from them the rest of their lives, so some day, you should be okay to keep them in your diet, just highly monitored.
best of luck...be patient!!!!!
Not easy! I mean, right now it is because I'm motivated and with a high normal glucose know I must do this, but before, like you, I walked the line. One whole wheat English muffin in a day or one yam, that was it. And I was making wise choices--just not for my body.
I'm having to mentally erase what folks say about low carb being a fad and not healthy. Well, there's a reason endocrinologists recommend it (for diabetic patients, WLS patients, etc.).
I don't really consider it bad, or even that you are on a low carb diet, since it sounds like your only doing it temporary. That's an interesting plan he's got you on. I hope it works for you! LEt us know how it goes, and keep us posted on your plan. I just love hearing about different ways people eat.
Good luck!
