What's your favorite low cal soup?
I just bought a six pack of Healthy Choice soups from Costco the other day. They are the chicken noodle/rice ones. Ewww, I don't like them at all and I'm not a picky eater. Does all of the Healthy Choice tastes as bad as the chicken ones? What others out there do you like? I hate to buy a bunch to find out I don't like them so I thought I would ask for your guys recommendations first.
I like the campbells chicken tortilla soup - the low sodium/healthy eating option...
other than that I usually make my own soups at home these days
What I've eaten is here for the world to see

you must mean ready made soup? Not many are all that good. About the only can soups I will tolerate is bean and bacon or tomato, Campbells and I cannot say that either are a healthy choice. Been a while since I read those labels.
I use Trader Joe's Miso soup and lentil soups in a can. Can't say they are great flavors, but they fill the bill for fiber or protein levels and lowfat. There is a black bean one but do not have the brand.
I make a wonderful butternut squash soup:
diced, cooked butternut squash, mashed
add enough chicken broth to deisred conssitency
add in fresh thyme (preferably lemon thyme)
sauteed onion - just a couple tblsns
1T fresh ginger, ground up
cook til heated thru
if I have leftover brown rice, I may toss that in, just a 1/4 c
This is a wonderful, stick to your ribs soup and freezes very well! AWESOME with a turkey sandwich.
Oh my gosh! I made the mistake of buying some of that soup... "heart healthy" or some stupid thing. In fact... I bought the New England Clam Chowder... you know me- a die hard Alaskan! GOTTA have my clam chowder!
Well IMHO, it's "heart healthy" cause once you TASTE it.... that's just about as close as it gets to your gullet... a TASTE is just about it!
I was going to try and "soup it up" a bit... like adding a little salt, imitation bacon bits (or turkey bacon?) SOMETHING- just to make it edible- and MAYBE some CLAMS? :)
Lol, that's what I was doing. I immediately went to my spices. Clams...mmm chowder, only way I'll eat clams. Talking about Alaska's food, I've been on a halibut kick lately. I also tried those frozen salmon patties at costco the other day. They are disgusting! I'm suffereing through eating it though, I hate throwing away fish if it's good for you. I'm now making it cold and putting them in my salads so I can cover up the taste with dressings!hehe It's actually pretty good that way! And a way to get in some extra protien.
Hmm progresso eh? Maybe I'll buy a can of that one and give it a shot. I like canned soup for when there is nothing else to eat for lunch. I'm not doing Weigh****chers. I've been on it though, so I know where your coming from. It just doesn't seem to work for me. Look Chunkymama, two points, whole can of soup! She's been crackin me up with her one pointer lolli pops.hehe
