HELP! FALLING OFF ON WEEKENDS

Lately I have been doing really well M-F and then I'm falling off on the weekends.  It is bugging me, but I think I need a kick!  Exercising some, but not as much as before.  I love that scale moving, and lately it's just standing still.  What can I expect though.  Getting seriously aggravated, I am hoping I  can get back the control I had.   My step son is calling me wanting me to get him junk when I told him it's too tempting for me, the smell of food under my nose is a no, no.  Hubby is no help either.  A lot of guys don't want their wife fat, but he doesn't worry about it.  The only one that has to care is me.  I know it's my health and I choose what goes in my mouth, but geez, a little help from them wouldn't hurt.  I'm going to talk to my husband tonight and tell that I don't want him or his son tempting me right now until I get back on track.  Before I would just tell them no, but lately I'm weak.  Does this sound like a BS excuse or what? Any words of wisdom or motivation to get my head straight is appreciated.  I really miss seeing that scale moving down!   It ticks me off that I haven't lost crap in October.  Brenda

It's not BS at all.  My bariatric doctor even told me to work to the point where I can handle being around food.  But if you can't handle it and you'll break then you need to get rid of it...PERIOD!  I don't see no harm done in telling them no junk food or tempting food in the house.  They don't need it anways, and  if they want it...they can go else where and eat it.  My daughter works at a pizza place and that is one of my weaknesses.   She use to bring it home ALL the time.  I finally had to bark at her and tell her I never want to see another pizza in this house again, even if your the only one eating it.  For now, that's the way it's got to be.  Out of sight, out of mind.

Weekends..I'm a bad judge on that one...weekends in a house with a dh and four kids at home, I know it's tough.  This is one of my downfalls also.  Only thing I know of is try to stay focused.  When I lost alot of weight before I remember thinking when I saw a piece of tempting food in front of me I thought...."is that piece really worth the one or two pounds back on my hips?" Think about it for about five minutes before even touching it. A lot of times it worked for me.  Hmm...I need to start thinking of that one too.ha  Because I know if I'm craving it for a week, I might as well give in and have a little piece because for me I will eat EVERYTHING else until I get what I want.  But it has to be worth a pound or two in my eyes.  Usually it's not!

well, let me tell you! :) i stay at home w/ my daughter (she is 3 months right now) but i love baking, since i've been home, my hubby likes to have something with his hot tea and b/4 i start baking i drink water so i don't taste it so much. but when i do want something sweet i have a glass of water also and  i try to substitute for something else. my favorite thing to eat sweet is from the south beach diet...it sounds gross..but if you like ricotta cheese then you'll probably like this....it's 1/2 c ricotta cheese 1/4 t vanilla extract 1/2 t unsweetened cocoa powder 1 package sugar substitute dash expresso (i don't use the expresso) and 5 mini chocolate chips. i love it. i eat it at least 2-3 times a week. it really helps me. and there lots of other recipes just like it...if you want i can give you some more and that should help.

as for the plateau that is when i would get discouraged too. when after a week or two or three nothing was coming off. but now, my motivation is two things...i will be healthier for my daughter and can run and play with her when she's older and the other thing is this. i will go shopping at victoria secret...i think that if we have something to look forward to when we get to our goals then it's encouragement! and just think maybe when that scale does go down you might see more than you think!!! hey, what about inches? are you keeping up with those? sometime even though the weight hasn't  come down the inches have! how are your clothes fitting you? and i don't think it's bs at all either.

best wishes and i hope that this helps!!!

I also eat the ricotta cheese with cocoa powder and vanilla.  It's actually quite good!  Gives you a sense of eating pudding or icecream in a way.

It does huh! that is why i like it! are you doing the sbd? i am going to a wlclinic and taking phendametrazine (im sure it's spelled wrong) 35 mg 2x daily for now...soon it will be 3x, and i'm supposed to be doing their high protein diet but i am actually doing the sbd b/c it teaches you what foods to eat...since i have pcos the white flour is very bad for me! lol and the wlc lets you have white flour stuff just small portions though and i'd rather not.

maybe try writing out a plan for your weekend. pencil in a specific time put aside for some exercise. i myself don't exercise on the weekends. i figure i deserve 2 days off and those 2 days will be when my whole family is off and we can do whatever we want. if it was something i wanted to do tho, i would have to set aside a particular time and make it happen then. i think it's a good idea to talk to your hubby and let him know how you are feeling and find some way that he can support you. my hubby is like yours. he doesn't care if i am fat or skinny. so it's always been up to me. let him know how important it is to you. and, if he doesn't wanna get on board, then come up with a plan for yourself that will help you avoid the weaknesses they make so readily available to you.

I don't think it's BS... I am having a difficult time on the weekends as well.   I would have a little talk with the family.  They have the option of eating the stuff any other place- WHY does it have to be right there in the house with you? I have figured my problem out... I am working downstairs- AWAY from the food- Mon-Fri from 8-5:30 or 6. I take the kids upstairs to feed them and that is it. We are downstairs all day.  On the weekend- I'm up there WITH the food- ALL day! :(

Lol sorry, first thought was...go back downstairs!  Do you sit at the table with the kids while they eat thier lunch?  I'm just trying to figure out a way you can make your own house not the "refrigerator".  Do you have this feeling in the evenings though?  If you don't you probably just have all of our "weekend" issues.  Just being around family!  Think that is what it's boiling down too.  We need to figure out how to eat around our families.

"We need to figure out how to eat around our families." Oh I have that ALLLL figured out! I eat around them ALL weekend!!  LOL Actually, I think it does have a lot to do with being upstairs near the kitchen.... and I feel like I've lost my favorite munchie to- I *lived* on red grapes the first 1.5 months on WW... now though, the store is getting really crappy grapes :(  They aren't very good and when I munch- I'm NOT munching fruit :(   I really LOVE grapes and they are soft and icky these days. Need to find another healthy crutch to hold me through the rotten grape season :)

Even though many would argue to be consistent every day, I plan to go off plan with food at least a bit on the weekends. It can be dangerous, i admit.

In other words, i will be very vigilent all week, eat very little so that I can eat more like "normal" on the weekends. This is why I eat proetin breakfasts for my work week (plus the fact that i am not that hungry in the mornings), nealry every lunch is high protein soup at lunch with steamed greens...not exactly gourmet.

My weight loss is a lot slower because of that, and again, the danger might be that if I have one "bad" day during the week, plus two not so great weekend days, i could even gain.  I will say that the weekends is when I do way more exercise, though, so perhaps in a way that does help counteract gains. My workdays are lucky if I can get in 70 minutes of a walk...at least one weekend day i can do more than 2 hours in one spot.  I VERY much feel for you girls with kids at home...it is a double edged sword - limited exercise time and lots of food at most times of day. I was there.  i cannot say I managed very well at all.  Did the best I could.
