Ok so finally I have come to my senses. Atleast I hope. I just joined thedailyplate.com and I absolutely love it.  It gives me everything I ever wanted.  So I am not going to do any fad diets or anything. I am going to count calories and eat healthier but i am going to eat what I want. Not starve or anything. Just eat good yummy food but in portions so I control my calories and cravings. For exercise...I haven't been to the gym in forever. I might go back and swim there. I know swimming can burn alot of calories. And I will dance. :)  Because last night as I was cleaning my room and packing some things up my fave song came on and I just started breaking it down lol. I may be white...but I can dance like those black girls lol. So I am thinking about making a mix cd that I can dance to everynight and burn some calories. So I am basically going to focus on exercising more than on my food..I mean I am going to pay attention to food but I want to get my exercise back on and do something I enjoy I love swimming and I love to dance.  So I will see what the outcome of this will be it shall be good. Just felt like putting all out there it makes me feel better to type it.

Some places have those exercise classes that are dance oriented.  You would probably love that.  At your age, making small changes to your eating habits like limiting the junk and portion control should allow you to lose weight.  When I was in my twenties I could lose weight pretty easy if I just tried.  Not so easy when your in your 40's.  Exercise is easier too when your younger.   Let your mom know your trying to eat healthier before you move in.  I'm sure she already knows this.  Maybe she will try and make sure you have healthier choices around and limit the junk in order to make it easier for you.   Good luck! My mother is a heavy set women as well. I ws blessed with the fat genes. lol. Only one too...except my brother was too but he took care of that a couple years ago. Anyways...my mother buys junk for my youngest brother and healthy food also so I will be challenged. there will be extreme junk food but healthy choices as well. Because my youngest brother not the one who lost the weight but the other one eats constintly and all junk! I hate that lol. But I do have healthy things there. Fruits veggies and what not because I know she buys regular bread for the fam and low calorie bread for her.  I was calculating everything I am going to eat today on thedailyplate.com site and then I plugged in my exercising that I plan on doing today...half an hour of swimming and half an hour of dancing around like an idiot lol. Basically i will be doing it up Biggest loser style...so much input but ALOT output it basically cuts every calorie I eat out. So this might actually work lol.

well you KNOW this makes me happy!  In your case (for that matter most of the under 35 crowd here), you need to do one thing at a time.  For now, just concentrate on getting plenty of fruits and veggies, lean proteins, healthy fats in small amounts, wonderful whole grains. AND move every day to the best of your ability!

Whatever works for you, girl.  Thedailyplate.com sounds good to me.  It's a healthy way to lose weight.  Best of luck, chicky!

I am MOST pleased to have you as my friend on TDP.  I think that you will find it a great place to get a grip on what choices you are making and improving them a little at a time. Did you set a calorie goal?  That is a good place to start.  I kindof think about TDP as budgeting software.  I have 1600 calories to spend.  I can spend them however I want.  If I want to blow 500 on a piece of really decadant chocolate cake I can... but I have to spend the other 1100 carefully that day.  Nothing is completley off limits. I can also look back and see trends that need adjusting.  I can look at the days prior to loss (or gain) and see what I was doing right or wrong. The real key to success it to put EVERYTHING in  - no matter how bad of a binge you've had log it ALL.  I carry a little notebook and write everything I eat down so that I can add it to my plate later. Christa - I think that you will find that jounaling your food will bring you considerable clarity and success.

I did set a calorie goal. For 4 pounds a week. I still get to eat 1600 calories. But I have gained weight I got on the scales this morning and was shocked. I imagine lots of water and exercise will take it away I think it is mostly sodium and water weight because i have been eating lots of junk.  I already binged today but I did log it in and I still have alot more calories that I can spend so I am content with it. And exercising will burn some extra calories off.  So I really like the site. It's great and I think it will help me. Oh and another thing....looks as if I might not be moving back home. My parents said no cat. I can't get rid of my kitten thats like giving away a child. I just cant do it. So what I will do is stay where I am at my apartment....I will save up some money and I will get a small loan and go back to school. It can be done. I just have to stop spending money maybe knock my cable down to basic instead of digital lol. So...sigh I was crushed I still am kinda upset and want to cry but hey...I can do it either way. I just cant give up that cat I love him WAY too much and he keeps me company at home.

I looked at your menu - I didnt see anything terrible there at all.  You could use more protein - but you were only at 1200 something... so maybe you already got more. Your salt was a tiny bit high - but that was the soup.  I could see 2 clear meals there - a hotdog for lunch it looks like - and soup and sandwich for dinner..  I didn't see where you fell into a bag of oreos or anything.  Good job!
